Re: Word of Brienne - 'Ware - thar be spoilers, d'argh! Just had a thought about Brienne. I think she may become the first female knight. Let's assume that whatever word she says saves her. She'll now be travelling with the Brotherhood and the Brotherhood knights everyone. What's to keep them from knighting Brienne? They are already living outside of the law. It's her dream to be a knight and I think it'll happen. What title do you give her though? I don't think that she'll want to be called "Ser". Maybe "Madem" (not misspelled ).

Re: Word of Brienne - 'Ware - thar be spoilers, d'argh! Can we spare a thought for poor Podrick Payne? Poor, inarticularlate Podrick, who saved Tyrion's life and has done nothing wrong. I will find it terribly sad if he is in fact hanged.

Re: Word of Brienne - 'Ware - thar be spoilers, d'argh! The first time I read it, I didn't have any idea what the word might be, I just flung the book across the room in fury at not finding out whether Brienne and Pod lived or died. On further reflection, I think it might be 'sword' (seems the logical choice), but this is hoping that she gets out of that noose. If she's to die, I think her last word might be 'Jaime'. So perhaps if it's 'Sword', she lives, and 'Jaime', she dies? Of course, I don't really care what the word is, as long as she doesn't get hanged. I just re-read that chapter today in fact, and it still upsets me. On the first read, I was convinced that her word would save them, but now I have a horrible feeling it might not. I'll be gutted if Brienne and Pod die, but either way, I hope we find out in ADWD and don't have to wait until TWoW.
