Don't count your chickens, though, we felt the same When Blair was elected.

Well, I didn't for one. Things Can Only Get Better, eh? Until they suddenly and inexplicably get considerably worse. But Blair cetainly did a good job of proving the old adage - it doesn't matter who you vote for, the government always get in. Let's hope our Aussie friends fare better.

I knew about Mr Brown!!

So the ALP is in. Haven't seen the results in WA as yet, hopefully it is not that party with so many belonging or belonged to the Unions We have enough trouble with the various unions as it is!

Wyb, your picture sums up the feeling of elation over here. True, we don't really know what we are getting. But we do know what we are getting rid of, a lying little neo con.

Re: Rudd and Labor take out Australian Federal Election

Well I have always been a Labour voter but yesterday I walked into the polling both still not knowing which way I was going to vote. For me its been a hard decision, I did vote Labour and all I can say is with Labour in Government and Labour in State Government there should be no reason why things should not get done. Sign that Kyoto, get stuck into global warming, do something about hospital waiting lists, bring our troops back from Iraq and lets get something happening in this country after relative inactivity on John Howards part to do anything about the above issues.

Troops won't be coming home now.

Rudd said he would sign the Kyoto, we will see if he does.

Re: Rudd and Labor take out Australian Federal Election

Thats exactly it Gully. Today for the first time in a long time I have hope for the future, that hopefully things will start improving. I don't thing Rudd will give the unions free reign, today is a much different Australia than it was when Hawke was in. I used to be a Steward for my Union when I worked, and had the privilege of attending the 2003 ACTU congress and yes there are some extreme unions out there, but what I learned was that really what the unions want is the best for the workers and while the extreme disruptive unions get a lot of press, a lot of unions prefer not to strike, because striking hurts the workers. So Rosemary I know that WA has some extreme examples of unions, but don't stress and think that they will take over.

You know, if Bush thanked me for being an ally arround election time, I would shoot him. Its a guaranteed loss. Thanks to him, I have to deal with reduced freedom, the hatred of the rest of the world, liberals getting elected everywhere(I don't enjoy government enough to request more of it), and after all is said and done, we will probably hand the middle east to the terrorists and run away.

(um for those young Aussies who might read Wiglaf's bit and be a bit confused, over in the states our Labor party would be referred to as Liberals, as opposed to our Liberals who are conservatives)

Wiglaf, I think when Bush goes he really should appologise to all you Americans, his government certainly hasn't done your country any favours
