Yeah, it's gotta be Bonham.

Re: Best Drummer?

Dave lombardo from Slayer, his groove is immpeccable!
Les Binks from late 70's Judas Priest is pretty awesome.
These days the norwegian drum whore Hellhammer always impresses me.

Re: Best Drummer?

I do have to say after seeing them live, Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters is an awesome drummer. He is a bit like Dave Grohl in he sings and plays guitar as well.

Re: Best Drummer?

Ringo, of course - solid and dependable, a very musical drummer (it is now a legal offence to quote Mr Lennon's comment about Ringo in public)

Simon Phillips - a drummer friend took me to one of his clinics and that was the day I realised I'd never, ever learn to play drums

Steve Gadd -the same friend pointed him out to me, something of a legendary session player as well, I gather

Carl Palmer - you can't take the P out of ELP

My old mate Graham who played in a band I was in once and I thought he was superb until I met

My old mate Willis who was scarily excellent. No idea what became of either of 'em. Pity.

Re: Best Drummer?

John Bonham, Keith Moon and I love Ringo Starr as a drummer. Check out The Beatles Revolver.

*Slaps hand to forehead*

How did I miss this thread before?

Peart , then Palmer, although in a different mood I could go for Bonham instead of Palmer. Peart is in a class by himself, and even the students have to sit outside the door!

Re: Best Drummer?

You can't name just one!

If I was forced into it, I would probably say Neil Pert as well, but

A lot have been mentioned and some, I'm not familiar with.

3 that have not been mentioned are:

Bill Bruford - Yes,
Ginger Baker - Cream
Nick Mason - Pink Floyd

But I would concur with

John Henry "Bonzo" Bonham
Keith Moon
Carl Palmer
Stewart Copeland - Now writes movie scores for Hollywood.
and Phil Collins
