Realitism /me grins

Pessimism: The glass is half empty, and even if it wasn't the water would make me sick anyways.

Optimism: The glass is half full, and a really great person will come along and share this delicious water with me.

Realitism: The glass is both half empty and half full, but once again someone left it on the heirloom coffee table my great grandma was given at her wedding, and now not only do I have to wash the glass, I have to refinish the table. Coasters are not hard to use.

The difference is that for a pessimist, the world is sad and lonely. For the optimist, the world is friendly and pretty. For the realist, the world takes a lot of work and needs some fixing.

And that is my philosophy. It doesn't matter what could be or what will be or what will not be. All that matters is that no matter what the situation, you have to WORK to make it better or you have to WORK to keep the status quo. Whining and bein all depressive woe is me will not alter the situation. Thinking that everything will be all peachy keen will not alter the situation. Only knowing the situation and getting off your butt will change the situation.

This can be applied to anything in life, from your education to your job to your relationships.

Granted, but it's my only remaining pleasure in life, so I think I'll carry on doing it.

Alternatively...

Pessimist - The glass is half empty.
Optimist - The glass is half full.
Realist - The glass is twice the size it needs to be.
(Programmer - The glass uses twice the required space for the current operation!)

Chuck Norris: I don't drink water. I simply look at it, and it evaporates out of fear.
