How about Gathis being one of the students that are studying the Talnoy in Novindus?

Not a bad idea, but I think the idea of him still being on Sorcer's Isle and looking after the castle is a better one.

Regardless of where Pug and Macros are, I always got the feeling that Gathis was committed to staying on the isle and maintaining things there - like keeping the scary lights burning in the castle, warding off unwanted visitors, etc. Would like to see Ray bring him back into a story once in awhile tho, just to let us know he's still alive...

Knowing Ray, he's either got two choices locked in his mind: 1). He'll return Gathis to the plot when Macros returns, if this is what he does. 2). He's forgotten all about him.

Possibly two. which is a shame Gathis always had a quite likeable personality. In many ways I supose he was mainly a background character used as a plot device to explain Macros's vastly superior magical knowledge and also to direct Pug etc to Macros where possible.

He prossibly just tends the shrine to Sarig that is concealed on the Isle or possibly his God has given him another task, he served Sarig not macros although weather Ray adheres to this or not is another matter.

I think that's the way it''s put, so yes Gathis is basically a Goblin!

Aye but you've got to remember that to an Eledhel, to even think about being related to the Moredhel is unspeakable: they are the same race with different opinions. However, Gathis is not the same as a goblin and from a different world. But as we know next to nothing about Gathis' race, we can safely as that he is a goblin!

I guess Gathis is immortal like Marcos ( or at least they have lived for countless centuries and are far from death)
But how is the sorcerer's minion (Gathis) immortal? was it ever explained? Was that a gift from Marcos?

I believe Gathis was from another world and just lived to a longer age than most midkemians. I think the last time he was mentioned was when he initiated Pug to become the number one follower of Sarig after gathis believed Macros to be no more as he couldn't sense him any more.
