Re: Son of 6 word story -- 6 (or less) lines of 6 words each

On summer nights I sleep outdoors
In a thicket of silver birch
Under a net of woven branches
A trap to catch a dream in

Re: Son of 6 word story -- 6 (or less) lines of 6 words each

Soaring in silver skies of sleep,
Streaked with clouds of molten gold,
Somnia's burnished Angel, adamant and proud,
Weaves wearying webs upon the world.
Calling the sleepers to their beds,
Calling the dreamers to better lives.

Complaisant boat on the aethereal sea,
Sail where I desire, this night.

Under a ceiling of darkest night,
Lit by a million shimmering stars.
With soft grass making my pillow,
I lay here, one with nature.
Listening to nocturnal sounds and creatures,
Seeking deep sleep, yet perfectly content.

Re: Son of 6 word story -- 6 (or less) lines of 6 words each

A series of linked verses:

(Theseus)

He, the hallowed, self-chosen sacrifice,
His heart beats strong with fear,
Does man choose his own moira?
Does destiny blind and bind him?
What impulse moved him in Athens
To offer himself for the slaughter?

(The Minotaur)

Fruit of an unholy union, Asterion,
Abhored, abominable, yet a man’s brain
Imprisoned in the great horned head.
He cannot escape the beastly hunger,
Or the monster’s taste for blood.

(Ariadne)

Three times traitor: daughter, sister, priestess
Who does she love, who betray?
There are secrets in the labyrinth,
Concealed in darkness, consecrated in blood
Does she lust after forbidden knowledge
Or for the Athenian’s strong body?

(In the maze)

Lost in the knot of corridors.
Following the thread of Ariadne’s thought
A net, a snare, he senses
In the unwinding silken clue
But who shall be the victim
Theseus the hunter, Asterion the prey?

Proverb: Time waits for no man.

Reality: Man wastes, for no time.

Ergonomist: Man times for no waste.

I rifle through my tired brain,
Searching for the one right word,
Pungent, precise, and sufficient to convey
All the subtle shades of meaning
My mind sees, my heart knows.

Re: Son of 6 word story -- 6 (or less) lines of 6 words each

No one else was posting last time, so I tried to see how many related ones I could do. Never occurred to me that they might not be posting because they didn't want to interrupt. I like reading peoples posts as they appear.

John didn't like her at all.
She interrupted him all the time.
She had a very annoying laugh.
She teased him every single day.
Why couldn't someone else do it?
Why was he walking her home?

(A Classical tour de force, Teresa!)

Therapeutic sunshine on my ghostly face,
Banish the sorrow of uncounted years
Spent in isolation, fear and disgrace!
Breathe life into my pallid skin!

Sol Invictus, source of all life,
Grant me the strength to conquer!

The salty spray stings my visage.
Icy gales pierce my threadbare raiment.
With the rocking bow, I sway.
You don't know how I've waited.
I yearn for shore and family.

New home, new place to live,
With many new things to explore.
Same friendly faces, same wonderful discussions.
I think I like this place.

Floating on a cushion of words,
Warmer than sunlight, lighter than air.
So few words, short and simple,
To make me feel like this.

Dreams woven into the nightly mesh,
A blanket of sleep for all.
Who sends the dreams we have?

Riding the meteor's tail, he comes.
A bringer of life or death?
Sword in hand, his face grim.
He descends to the earthly plane
To deal judgement to the world.
Someone tell me: Is fate unchangeable?

Why did everyone leave me alone?
Where have all the people gone?
I shout out into the air.
The echoes are my only friends.

Re: Son of 6 word story -- 6 (or less) lines of 6 words each

Bitter loneliness, sour and soul twisting.
The hardest of feelings to overcome.
I step out of the shadows
Into light, to feel the sun
And its' warm light on me.
No longer bitter, no longer alone.
