Re: England Through To The Finals!!! Alain Rolland is a good choice as the referee for the final. He's very possibly the best ref in the world. Which would make sense. He may be harsh sometimes, but is consistant with both teams, most importantly.

Re: England Through To The Finals!!! Argentina were below par against the Saffas, as they were against Scotland. However, a lack of stern tests can be a disadvantage (you could argue that the All Blacks lost to France partly because they weren't battle hardened). At the other end of the spectrum we have England who've had nothing but stern tests since their drubbing at the hands of South Africa. I don't know who'll win... I can't believe we beat Australia and still can't believe we beat France. If we won it'd be bloody odd. However, our pack's been pretty damn good and since Jonny's return everyone seems to be playing with more self-belief, even if the man himself is a little off the pace. Hopefully the final will go the distance, then into extra time and then...well, you know

Re: England Through To The Finals!!! Congrats to England so far and goodluck for the weekend. Australia never really got into gear but that's ok I spent more time barracking for Tonga and Fiji anyway

Re: England Through To The Finals!!! Yeah, but bearing in mind the injury troubles we had last time we played South Africa at least this time it's merely detrimental to our side rather than catastrophic.

Re: England Through To The Finals!!! Hopefully, win or lose, we'll learn our lesson this time and actually spend the 4 years bringing in new talent rather than recalling Catt when he's 40 ![]() It would be bizarre and wonderful if we could win.

Re: England Through To The Finals!!! Yeah, it might actually be better not to win. We've got problems in our international setup, and it needs sorting out. Whereas if we win, it'll get ignored again. Then again, at least they have reached an agreement with the clubs now over internationals and releasing players.

Re: England Through To The Finals!!! Bad one Raney - let's hope they DO win and STILL sort out their problems. I mean - well Jonny's getting to the end of his rugby career along with a few other I won't mention so reckon they'll be having (hopefully) some new blood soon anyway. COME ON THE TEAM - ENGLAND, ENGLAND, ENGLAND SWING LOW SWEET BOYS!!!

Re: England Through To The Finals!!! And Argentina beat the French into fourth place! If the Pumas aren't given a place in the Six Nations or the Tri Nations now, it'll be a real travesty of justice.......

Re: England Through To The Finals!!! I'm not sure how old Wilkinson is...I think he's only in his mid-20s, and if so he'll be around for another World Cup or two ![]() Edit: Just checked, he's 28, so he should be around for a little while longer yet, hopefully long enough for his clone to become fully grown Last edited by thaddeus6th; 20th October 2007 at 05:56 PM.

Re: England Through To The Finals!!! Well I wound not agree with them being in the Six Nations as they are nowhere near Europe, but the Tri Nations is nearer their side of things and they have become good enough as a world team, so a Quad Nations sounds Ok.and that's going to be my last post before the the Rugby begins tonight.

Re: England Through To The Finals!!! Yeah, Argentina should join the Tri-nations, it'd be totally lopsided to have one tournament with 7 teams and another with just 3. On to the rugby: we just didn't play well enough. Giving away stupid penalties lost us the game (the one at the end of the first half was a cunning, if not too sporting, move and saved us losing 4 more points). However, Cueto's try should've been awarded, though it was very contentious. Not too bad for a hodgepodge of old guys and new blood though. I'm still amused that we finished ahead of the All Blacks and beat the Aussies. Hopefully we'll rebuild properly in the next four years and then retake the trophy.
