Touched By Wonder Available Now!

A father discovers the impossible cause of his daughter's fears. A breast cancer victim gambles desperately on a cure. A homeless waif walks distorted city streets overrun by monsters... or does she?

This collection of stories by authors from around the globe brings people, just like you and me, into the path of the extraordinary. Whether in the world as we know it, or in a futuristic or fantastical world all its own, each tale reminds us there may never be an end to the unexplained.

Nor should there be.

Touched By Wonder: A Symphony of Fantastic Tales launches this month as a benefit anthology for Breast Cancer Research. It is no accident TBW is being released in October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Pick up your copy of Touched By Wonder at Meadowhawk Press today! Free Shipping in the U.S. during October!

And the most important reason of all to pick up Touched By Wonder is that it contains a story by CN's own SJAB! Way to go Sue!

Re: Touched By Wonder Available Now!

Considering the quality of the stories and writers, I am still wondering how I made it into the book...

I can't wait to see the book in the flesh. I just hope it doesn't get lost in the post, due to the postal strike over here.

SJAB, congrats on your publishing! I'm also an author in Touched by Wonder. I was just scanning various writing forums trying to find more information about other authors, reviews, etc. I just got my copy, and it looks awesome! Which story is yours? I wanna check it out!

Hi WanderingVisionary,

Nice to "meet" a follow author. My story is "All Things Seen," page 42 I think... What is yours?

Re: Touched By Wonder Available Now!

Oh my gosh! I just finished reading your story--it's AMAZING! I'm actually a history major at UNC Asheville and happen to really enjoy speculative fiction with a splash of history. Your story really struck a cord with me. You do such a great job transitioning between the past and the present and letting the reader see how the two time periods connect as the story unfolds. Truly brilliant.

My story is "Life as We Know It" on page 132. Homeless waif in a distorted city of monsters and such. ^_^*

Seriously, after reading so many amazing stories in this anthology, I wonder how I got in. I'm humbled and proud at the same time. Jackie and Dan really put together such a wonderful collection, and I'm grateful to them for helping me mold and shape my story and give it a chance to shine, too.

What else have you read in the book? "Mattie's Cougar" and "The Secret Cure" both hooked me. They both have this eerie, mystical tone that carries through, despite the common, everyday setting--perfect for the book! I just got chills reading them! "Ghosts of Love" is also excellent, providing a less mundane setting, and giving off a melancholy, dark vibe. Ooo...it's just such a good collection!

Re: Touched By Wonder Available Now!

Apologies for not getting back to this sooner; I have been working full time of late so reading and the net has taken a bit of a back seat.

Thank you for your kind words. I wanted to tell a story from two sides. I was never quite sure whether it worked.

I loved the way your story left the reader unsure of whether the “monsters” were real or just, not so much in the character’s head, more her impression of the world around her. You left her still struggling, but with a glint of hope.

As to the other stories, I agree about Mattie’s cougar and Ghosts of Love. I also liked Man from the Currents, A thing Enclosed and Yellow Ribbons. But it is hard to chose favourites as the quality is very high, and like you I am delighted and a bit humbled to be in such company.

Re: Touched By Wonder Available Now!

Ahhh thanks for the kind words about Ghosts in Love... I am a melancholy sort of chap it seems - all of my short stories are inherently sad...

It was great to see this book turn out the way it did and I hope it goes on to make a lot of money for the charity.

So buy more copies!
