New Zelazny Colletion in the works Just to whet your appetites, I believe there is going to be a new collection of Roger's previously uncollected short fiction published, following on from Manna From Heaven, don't know when though. There is also a new 5-volume collection (which may include the above, I'm not sure on the exact details) being mooted, which will bring together all Roger's previously published short stories, novellas, poems and articles - in short everything except the novels. Definitely one for the collection. Any chance of a new Zelazny sub-forum?

Re: New Zelazny Colletion in the works Well he won the Nebula 3 times and the Hugo 6 times so I guess he must have had something going for him. He's also considered one of the pivotal writers of the experimental SF in the 1960s. He was highly influential on other writers and he also wrote one of the greatest and most influential EPIC fantasy series of all time in Chronicles Of Amber. I think it would be fair to say that he's seen as something of a giant in SFF. Does that help? I'm leaving plenty out here but it should get the ball rolling.

Re: New Zelazny Colletion in the works And the true perfection of Isle of the Dead? And the little marvel that is Jack of Shadows? I don't know many authors who can handle the same down-to-earth and realistic approach, combined with such poetic feel, like he did. And his mastering of the English language? His effectiveness and elegance? Neil Gaiman admits to being a great fan of his. He is my main source of inspiration. I chose to write in the first person because I was enthralled by his unique voice.

Re: New Zelazny Colletion in the works "My Name Is Legion" inspired me to change my name, which I did in 1986, and 1989, and 1996, and 2001, and 2004. Since then I've only changed my online identity, which is not the same thing.

Re: New Zelazny Colletion in the works For me, Zelazny's biggest failing was when style took over from story. He wasn't the only one to suffer from this, nor by any means the worst (I cite Samuel Delaney) In fact, fortunately, it didn't happen all that often. He is one of the rare SFF authors I have read and enjoyed in French. Ici, c'est Ambre - tout autre n'est qu'ombre

Re: New Zelazny Colletion in the works Amber, Ambre, Ambra Hi, Chris! I started reading it in Italian (twice), continued in French (twice), and read it twice, no, more, in Anglish... It's true that, sometimes, he gives us his morceaux de bravoure, but I forgive him! Note: bravoure, in this case, refers to BRAVO!!!!

Re: New Zelazny Colletion in the works Ofcourse, Damnation Alley, how can I forget. However, not wanting to look like a complete philistine I found a copy of Lord of Light for $3 and it now sits happily in my TBR pile.
