Season 2, Episode 1

I am shocked that we don't have a few posts about the first episode of season 2 for Heroes. I throughly enjoyed the give and take about last season.

On the whole I felt that the season is off to a slow start. I would have liked this episode better if they had not tried to get us up to speed with almost all of the remaining characters. If they could have just let them slip in as time went on it would have been much better. As it was just a few interesting plot lines got picked up.

For me:

1. Does Hiro have to changed Japanese history to restore himself to the present? Or maybe if he accomplishes the change than everything that happens this year suddenly disappears? like Dallas' "dream season."

2. What power does the Spanish speaking (Mexican?) girl have?

3. How long will Clare and her family be able to stay in hiding?

4. What's the face in the mirror mean for Clare's father?

What do you think?

Re: Season 2, Episode 1

1. I would have to say he must convince Kensei to be good.

2. Alejandro and Maya, what ever she has she can only control it will alejandro is around, but it seems to be rather destructive. Why I logged on today to hear theories on what it may be.

3. No idea. But that boy (floater/flier) is likely what outs them.

4. Nathan I believe is seeing Peter's face in the reflection, my theorey is that Peter at last moment told him to drop him, why he is still alive.

My question, does Peter's amnesia seem like a weak twist?

And secondly, do we now get too see what Mama Petrelli can do?

Re: Season 2, Episode 1

The whole storyline with Hiro in the past is just bad IMHO, and I can't wait for it to be done with.

Otherwise, I thought this was a solid episode.

When HRG lashed out at his employer, he seemed awfully like Niki to me, what with one normal personality and the other excessively aggressive one.

It was cool to see Mr. Bennet plotting the downfall of the company with Mohinder. Something tells me it won't be easy, though.

Weird connection going on between gramma Petrelli and Mr. Sulu!

But most importantly, what's Peter doing in Ireland?

Re: Season 2, Episode 1

Clare's Father is Nathan Petrelli not Bennet. Biological vs Adoptive.

And the Parkman, Bennet, Mohinder (I forget the tracking system's name the little girl) all in league looks like a very interesting storyline.

I guess they threw that in there to give newcomers a hint of how dangerous he can be, or for some fun for fans who like seeing the downtrodden stand up against their downtreaders or like seeing the "good guys" on a show show off some power and be imposing once in a while. But to me it seemed out of character, unwise, and immoral; the first because he's always been the type to excercise power more quietly and subtly rather than with a physical in-your-face style, the second because it calls attention to him when they're supposed to be going unnoticed, and the third because he was using it not to protect his established rights but to overstep them and take extra which priviledges he's not allowed within the rules and his counterparts still won't get.

It was not fun to see him engaging in potentially dangerous activities and hiding it from his from his family again.

When Nathan flew him away from New York City, they headed out to sea an unknown distance, and that's a natural place to end up if you're adrift in the northern Atlantic Ocean, given the currents. A handful of accounts of strange people washing up on Scottish and Irish shores over the centuries are thought to have been Innuit from Greenland. Of course, most or all of them were dead, but we don't know if Peter found a boat out there that was taking advantage of the currents to get there deliberately, or if his powers allowed his survival without one...

What I wondered about was the flash of blue light from his hand which seemed to propel someone away from him. That's difference from regular telekinesis; when and how did he get it? And why can someone who had such a hard time learning ot use his powers and has "blown up" at least once due to that lack of control now use them at a moment's notice without even knowing who he is?

Re: Season 2, Episode 1

It was a shame to see George Takei's character die (although this is Heroes, maybe he didn't!). I'm curious to find out more about the 'original' set of heroes. Some potential for flashback episodes there. I wonder who the person was that attacked him.

So this season it seems we have a virus, the evil eyes the girl sees, and a stranger from the last generation of heroes killing the others off all as potential overarching challenges for the heroes. Interesting.

Well, I really want to know what power that Maya chick has. Looks religious or something...the way the people were bleeding from the eyes...

Peter's alive! YAY!

Re: Season 2, Episode 1

I still think that Hiro's is the most important, and the most interesting of the plot lines. I think that he will be in ancient Japan most, if not all of this season. I would not be surprised that when Hiro is able to restore his "hero" (The names of the characters in almost any show escape me. It's the stories, not the people I remember.) back to hero status then the clock will be reset on season 2 and we will go back to the end of season 1. I think that the the virus and the organization (It does have the same Japanese symbol as Hiro's hero, does it not?) which is killing off the heros will disappear.

If this is so it will be interesting to note that we will have back to back shows (Journey Man) dealing with time travel and it's implications.

We'll see if we can hang onto them for more than a few episodes.

That's what a friend was proposing last night while we were discussing it. Maya had several religious references as well. Sort of a dangerious crying icon in the flesh, if she gets to a point of emotional distress (which alejandro can keep at bay) it strikes out at all around her. It would also line up with the "some hero's powers are too dangerous" hinted storyline.

And if that's the case thats a pretty original power

Re: Season 2, Episode 1

I was starting to lose hope for this series after the last eps of last being very weak and the finale was very anti-climax.

But this season is started very interesting and gave me back the hope for a good season that is if they can keep the level up.

Hiro is still the most important for me, so funny to see the great japanese hero is english

I think it was in character of Mr Bennet not take crap and threat that guy. This guy is only soft against his family. Heck he would kill a baby if it protected Clare. That is why it was believable for in that scene and very cool scene cause he can be very scary when you cross him.

I almost feel bad for the company to have Bennet,Mohinder(brains),Parkman(the great power) after them.

Re: Season 2, Episode 1

Yeah Wow, loads to talk about

New heroes
there was the guy with the midas touch (can turn things to gold)
the new kid that can fly
The mexican pair - I think its some kind of disease type thing, but we're yet to see.
Any I forgot?
I thought peter turning up in Ireland was cool, but he can't have just fallen from the sky, he was inside a shippnig crate chained to the wall. Someone must have caught him when he fell and put him there.
So there are 9 old Heroes left, now that Linderman is gone.
Hiro's father is one of them - we still haven't seen his powers
and Peter/Nathan's mum another - or hers
The evil eyes guy could be onebut where are the others gonna come from.
Hero in ancient japan, I think its pretty obvious that Hero will become Kensei, he will write the stories, becoming the hero of the future. Although the White guy could also have powers?
there is also a chance that the future of 5 years after (sometime after the bomb) could still happen. Mohinder and Parkman wokring for the compnay, Mohinder well connected to the president. Although Nathan doesn't look too on track for President (although I heard Bush also had a few wayward years with drink)
OMFG I so excited, I wanna watch the episode agian. I 've got series 1 to watch tonight (seen it before) just filling inthe gaps

Hopefully I can have a few revelations here on the SF&F forum.

Re: Season 2, Episode 1

I was shocked to see Peter this soon. Nice to see his new look too. He looks nerdy with his lame haistyle. Will be interesting to see what happens in Cork with him.

Maybe become a gangster while he doesnt know who he is :P

Re: Season 2, Episode 1

The fact that one of the new characters has the same power as an old one (flying) could mean that there's only a few types of powers that anyone could have; otherwise it's too big of a coincidence.
