Re: Favourite Place In Midkemia Thanks again, Vencar. These I can download, tho there's still a trick to it. This is the place I found them a few yrs ago, but lost 'em in a crash. I like to print these out so when I'm reading about particular places I can relate to them on the map. May Ruthia shine upon you and bring you good luck. ![]()

Re: Favourite Place In Midkemia [quote=i learn something new each time i reread.[/quote] So do I, and I'm also fascinated by the places we have NOT gone in the stories yet. For example, I'm hoping that one of these days Ray is going to take us deeper into the Lesser Keshian Confederadcy. I'd like to explore places like Shing Lai, Dong Tai and Toa Zi in greater depth, just to name a few.

Re: Favourite Place In Midkemia Just read an article stating that Novindus is based on India with Ray saying it is full of different languages, cultures and so on. I like the fact that he is using real places and adapting them.

Re: Favourite Place In Midkemia Vencar, where'd you find that artiicle? I'd love to read it. After I read a little about the Tsuranni there was never any doubt in my mind that Ray was using real cultures to base his writings on, as Tsurannuanni matches Feudal Japan - with perhaps a bit of Maya or Aztec culture thrown in for good measure.

Re: Favourite Place In Midkemia Thanks for the link to a great article. I had also noticed the similarities between Roldem and Poland as well as Rodez/Spain and Bas-Tyra/France. I had to think for a minute about Novindus, as I had been thinking more of Africa than India, but India does fit, particularly as I have also come to see Kesh as more of a cultures based on various tribes, as in Africa. Definitely good stuff and gives us more insight into the mind of the author.

Re: Favourite Place In Midkemia To me, Novindus has seemed a bit of everything. It was never Africa, that was definitely Kesh, but it didn't seem like India too. But the similarities are there, like you said, and i really want to explore it a bit more

Re: Favourite Place In Midkemia I think I'd like to visit Stone Mountain, Smoke the odd pipe, get drunk on Dwarven Ale and enjoy the mountain views. Maybe pop down a mine for a look.

Re: Favourite Place In Midkemia That sounds good to me too. As an old singer and performer, I've spent a lot of my life in smoky taverns raising a glass between songs, and a rowdy evening of songs, stories and dwarven ale would be right up my alley.
