searching for an alt-earth trilogy

This was a fantasy series in a world that used a magic based technology. The energy came from a star which also may have been a higher state of being. The energy was collected in amulets made of crystals and "hex wire". One of the characters was a dwarf who had been killed by an arrow but who was animated by a powerful necklace. Humans had to have some kind of magic protection or they would drift away when they slept. In one of the books the antagonist used cacademons. In a different (?) book one of the characters was a hlf man-half cat. There was also a continent that submerged part of the time. Help, this is driving me and my wife crazy.

Re: searching for an alt-earth trilogy

It rings a bell, was the phenomenon called the, 'Night Tides,' and was there a holy book called, 'The Gibbet Scrolls ?' I'm a bit lost myself, but this extra information may help. I remember reading of a half-dog character, but this could be part of the same sequence.
