Re: HPL music?

Not heard of that one particularly, though I've seen lots of others inspired by HPL. (Nox Arcana, for example, has an entire CD called Necronomicon, dealing with the Mythos, albeit from a rather more Derlethian perspective.)

I'm having trouble downloading this one, though, Pyan... I'll see if I can get to it another way.... Meanwhile, what are your thoughts on it?

Re: HPL music?

Not bad, actually - dissonant, harsh, but interesting.
Be good in the background for a HPL RPG.....

Try www.nightmaresforsale.com ,jd.......

Hmmm. That one takes me right back to the Forum index.... Let's see if this one works...

Nightmares For Sale

And yes, I've heard some of the samples.... not quite to my taste, overall... a bit too dissonant to be as atmospheric as I'd like... but not at all bad....

Re: HPL music?

As an aside there's a band called Current93 which is inspired by and has done collaborations with Thomas Ligotti. Not heard them so far.

Here's a bit more about them:

Current 93

Thanks for bringing that in... I've not heard them, either, but now I'm curious....

Not heard that much by them, actually, but I do have a fondness for "Color Me Green"... that song is just soooo wrong.....

Re: HPL music?

I have to mention two Metallica songs from back in the day, The Thing That Should Not Be and Call of Ktulu. Their original bass player, the late great Cliff Burton, was a big Lovecraft fan.

Thumbs up Re: HPL music?

The American death metal band Nile has several Lovecraftian songs in addition to their ancient Egyptian ones. I don't really like death metal that much, but the depth and research behind their music is very impressive.

Re: HPL music?

Nile Guitarist Karl Sanders had a brilliant album of brooding, atmospheric (and shall we say it, Lovecraftian?) instrumental music called Saurian Meditation.
