Re: Dr Who on BBC7 And it has to be said McGann makes a far better fist of being the Doctor on radio than in the horrible film. While Sheridan Smith (Lucy Miller) and India Fisher (Charley Pollard) make more substantive impressions as his assistants than many of the more visual cupcakes

Re: Dr Who on BBC7 Don't dispair, Cap. There are still some benighted souls who've never heard (of) digital audio broadcasting, and Christmas is coming. You jus' bought your first Christmas prezzie for some lucky carbon based lifeform. ![]()

Re: Dr Who on BBC7 Have to confess, I was less impressed by the first one hour episode than some of the earlier ones. There were times when the 'picture' became too confused or weak to follow, while the story rather relied upon one of those "I knew what was going on all along" moments to finish.

Re: Dr Who on BBC7 Yeah, it can be tricky with one actor playing three roles when there are no pictures. Wasn't this one of Pat Mills' scripts? He might be thinking too visually still Possibly one that deserves a second listen - now that we know that those sound effects represent a temporal transition - no, that wasn't a spoiler! (Was it?)However, I couldn't fault Sheridan Smith's performance and the way her relationship with the Doctor is shaping up, and from the clips on Beyond the Vortex, I think there's still much to look forward to. A weak season opener, perhaps, but still more Dr Who than some of the TV stuff we've ended up with in the recent past ![]()

Re: Dr Who on BBC7 It was a Pat Mills script and I think the director was a relative newbie as well, so hopefully he at least will learn. I do agree the Big Finish audio versions are, on the whole, are more inventive and varied than recent TV efforts. But then the pictures have always been better on the radio ![]()
