Re: Salutations...

mmm Plums. I tried a Pluot this summer past, it is a plum/apricot hybrid, and it was even more delicious that a plum.

Re: Salutations...

* Wonders if he ought to wear a mask. But no: the place doesn't seem to be dusty at all. *

I attended the 2012 Eastercon and went to the BSFA Awards, as I'd voted and wanted to see the results. (I tend to watch election results programmes and the voting at European Song Contests; I must have a psychological flaw of some sort.) To my surprise, while I only voted in three of the four categories, I managed to pick those three winners.

But there was a much bigger surprise. I was sat at the end of my row, next to the central gangway. On the other side of this, a row back, sat our own Ian Whates. So far, so good, as regards general unspookiness.

But who was sat directly in front of Ian? None other than Giovanna Clairval, one of the early contributors to this thread. Two bits of news: she's had work published (in the US); she'll be moving to Scotland in a few weeks.

Ah, oui, our Parisienne Italienne…

What, me a bit slow on the uptake? It's been less than a year (just).

*Opens window to air the introduction thread that ate Poukeepsie, then winces at the ici blast and thinks better of it. Finally dust one small nesting table (I think it's hoping to hatch a set of footstools), runs somewhat dusty vacuum cleaner over a couch, plugs in kettle and starts washing up one mug, one teaspoon and the milk jug. Glance in the fridge indicates that milk is not an option; the carton has evolved intelligence, developed space flight and is well on its way towards the frontiers of the universe. Even the piles of mould have mummified. Fine, black tea it is.

*Flows out of the sconce, paying homage to the ghosts of posters past*

And yet, one has to believe that Wyb has a fine chutney (among other things) behind the curtain over in the corner, dare she ever to lift it. That, and I'm quite sure shoggoths still pass this way.

Re: Salutations...

* Slips into the Sal, and sneezes. Takes one look at the dust and whips out her handy Dustbuster 9000.a.139 vx and starts a clean up. The thick layer of dust that had settled upon the Sal disappears into an unknown pocket dimension. Upon the stove top she places a pot of something, stirs and tastes and adds a small pinch of something silver and sparkly. Restocks the fridge with some fresh milk and fills the biscuit barrel with Tim Tams, Jammy Dodgers and and Jaffa Cakes. Upon the notice board writes CHUTNEY ON STOVE, HELP YOUR SELF, AT YOUR OWN RISK" *

There thats a slight improvement. I think I will leave the TARP for another occasion..

Re: Salutations...

*Oggles the burger*

Wow. Looks simultaneously yummy and loaded with enough saturated fat to kill a horse! What's that betwixt burger and tomatoes? Cheese with bacon in it, maybe? Making myself hungry just looking at it, so maybe I'll just nibble a Tim Tam (thankee kindly, Madam Overlord).

*Takes a good, hard look at the chutney, then decides to be adventurous another time*

Discretion is the better part of valor, after all.....

*Flows into the sconce, after lighting it again*

Oh, blimey! I forget that others won't have seen her since she left here. Seph and I have kept in touch with her (and she's on FB), and Seph's in her small crit group along with some notable others, although he's had no time to take part recently because of his uni work. She's had quite a lot of short fiction published and translates for Jeff Vandermere on occasion, so she's doing very well for herself.

And yes, she moved up here, though we still haven't arranged a meet-up.

Did you chat with her, Ursa?

Wow! So many people in here. Long time no see! *waves*

*takes a Jaffa Cake and resolutely does NOT look at burger*

(You know, since AE only looked at it and asked for his mother. )

*sneaks back and cuts the burger in two so she can have half*

*nom nom*

Of course not, LK: I read her mind to discover her news.

Re: Salutations...

LOL! Silly question, I suppose. I wondered if, since you said you were a wallflower, you overheard her talking. I find it difficult to go up to people and speak.

Actually, now that I think about it, eavesdropping without saying hi sounds kind of... creepy.
