| Causa Scientiae | Re: Salutations... Oh, and lol. Yes. Cactuars are a staple of FF games. Like chocobos, moogles (sadly lacking in FFXIII ), etc.. You shouldn't have too much problem with the cactuars. If you do, then try to avoid them until you've levelled-up a bit. It's the ones in the Faultwarrens you really want to watch out for. (Flowering Cactuars, IIRC.) They're more powerful, and attack in groups. And they run away if you can't kill them quickly. The normal ones should go down fairly easy if you just hit 'em with Relentless Assault, or some other very offensive paradigm. As a rabid FF-head, I have much love for the cactuars, I must say. Every time I encounter them in a new game, I'm like, "Yay!" |

| Crooked Warden | Re: Salutations... I know, it is bizzare!! 39/ 40 pototo potato its still bloody hot. Where you are, its not near where they just had all the big floods is it? Yeah I usually use tireless charge on them. They just look very out of place. I like the chocobos though. |

| Causa Scientiae | Re: Salutations... I'm not sure where the floods were, exactly, but no, it wasn't here. Cactuars? Out of place? Well, I suppose they should be in the desert. They always used to appear in the desert regions. But they didn't give us a desert region in XIII. |

| Crooked Warden | Re: Salutations... I mean the graphics seem out of place with the rest of the graphics, its feels to me like the characters have taken a trip and are seeing this little cactus figure jumping out from no where. I cant remember where it said the floods were, just that they were really bad and the people werent warned properly about them |

| Causa Scientiae | Re: Salutations... You're just not used to seeing a cactuar. ![]() They do spring out from nowhere. They're very fast (it's their main attribute, the other being the ability to attack you with their needles. Normal cactuars usually do the '1000 needles' attack. BIG cactuars (yes, watch out for those) will do '10,000 needles' -- which equals instant death for the targeted character in most cases. |

| Crooked Warden | Re: Salutations... No though I still maintain that the guys have been smoking too much of the wacky tobacy and this is just a manifestation of their fal'cie infested minds, but thats just me ![]() I met a big one earlier and was killed instantly. So I decided to go an kill some behemoths instead. |

| Causa Scientiae | Re: Salutations... I can assure you, they're very real. Unless ALL characters in every FF game are on the wacky, in which case you might have a point. In which case, every story could just be a drug-induced hallucination. ![]() But yes, the big one is trés formidable. A great levelling-up spot is just across the Archylte Steppe, on the first part of the path through Mah'habara. In the May of the Abyss area, you can keep going back and forth, fighting groups of Hoplites (and other things, if you also go down the route to the left when the road forks -- but don't try to fight the Juggernaut at the end unless you're in the mood for a long, hard battle). Don't go as far as the Boxed Phalanx guarding the way forward with a group of Hoplites. Just keep going back and forward in that area, and each time you get to one end, the fiends will have respawned at the other. You can grind for loads of CP in a short space of time, doing that. |

| Crooked Warden | Re: Salutations... LOL well maybe its just the square enix developers that are on the wacky ![]() I have found those little Ranada's are a good little xp farm, and the birds too, I went into that path once, but I wasnt sure exactly where it lead so I got out of it again as I didnt want to go to the next chapter under prepared. But I will take your guideance and go back and get my xp up. |

| Causa Scientiae | Re: Salutations... You only get to the next chapter once you get through the whole of Mah'habara (which is a lot more than just the Maw of the Abyss area) AND several other areas, so you don't have to worry about that. You'll get a lot more CP the way I suggested than fighting those things you mentioned, though. It's one of the best areas in the game for power-grinding (save the Faultwarrens -- which you could access now, but you'll need a chocobo; and one other optional area you'll have to backtrack for once you get to the next location after Mah'habara; oh, and other than killing the Adamantoises on the steppe, which is way beyond you right now). |

| Crooked Warden | Re: Salutations... Adamantoises? are they those huge dinosaur type things? Yeah there is buckly's and none that i have a chance of killing one of those yet. Anyways Mr 1st class soldier with the silvery hair, Rasuto Ōdā -Fainaru Fantajī Sebun has just finished and my eyes are resisting my attempts to keep them open, so I shall bid you adieu and wish you a good day, hope the rain comes and cools things down. |

| Causa Scientiae | Re: Salutations... Ah, you watched Last Order? Cool. And yes, the Adamantoises and Adamantortoises are way beyond you. But the Adamanchelid not so (they're the small ones). You should be able to kill them -- if not now, then very soon. But the rewards are not even close to being the same. Goodnight, Wy! I'm off now, too. Nice talking to ya. ![]() (And I hope you're right about the storm.......) |
