I should be writing, putting my now scant free-time to good use, but no, here I am...

Re: what should you be doing?

I should be packing...moving into a new house tomorrow. But I'm on here instead! And my mum has taken the day of work today so she'll be yelling at me in a moment to get a move on. She's already been badgering me about duvets while I was half asleep and lying in bed this morning; thing is, I'm not at all a happy person when someone speaks to me when I'm still half asleep, so she said she's not talking to me until I'm more friendly

I appreciate her help though. And I think she's excited because she's coming to Exeter with me for a few days...so it's a new adventure, with a long train trip and exploring a new place for her. Should be fun.

Mo, have a safe and enjoyable trip!

Hoops, happy house-moving and good luck with the new house!

As to me, I have tons-n-tons of urgent stuff to deal with, not so enjoyable to say the least nonetheless one has to do what one has to do, so good luck to me too!

Re: what should you be doing?

Thanks! It's getting there...Just had a packing blitz and I think I'm almost done. It helps that I don't have to pack everything. My room here at parental home is going to stay mostly as it is, and I get to kit out my new room with lots of fancy new stuff. Woop

Alas, I have to leave a large part of my book collection behind...too many to move! But I know I'm going to visit the Exeter bookshop almost immediately and start building a rival collection in the Exeter house

Re: what should you be doing?

I like this thread, I get to expunge my guilt. I should be going to bed and comforting my heavily pregnant wife (don't worry, I will), but I should also be doing some productive work. At least I should be plotting the downfall of my nemesis at work, I mean actually plotting how to rid myself of him, through bureaucratic channels, rather than imagining industrial accidents.

What's a holiday? Whatever it is Mose, you enjoy it. And Hoops, a new house is a big exciting change; you will always look back at certain stages of your life and identify it with where you were living at the time.

well, i'm supposed to be at work right now.
i walk to work, about halfway there a car pulls over. it's the secretaty of my son's school. he's ill and she took me to school to pick him up. then because it's wednesday i had to rush him to the doctors before it closes at 1! so had to phone work and cancell 15mins before i was due to start.
i'm convinced they don't believe my excuse. i don't really, although i know it's true!

I'm at work and should be working, though I really don't have much to do - certainly not enough to sustain me for the rest of the week.

Re: what should you be doing?

I have plenty to do here at work, but since the forces that be have asked I cover the reception desk, I am doing as the receptionist does. When in Rome, no?

Re: what should you be doing?

Thanks Allegra, Princess Ivy.

I'm off to Teneriffe for a few days.

I had an interesting conversation with a friend who's slightly hard of hearing. Told him where I was going and he said his parents were from there. I've known him for nearly 30 years and was stunned to find his background was Spanish. He carried on talking about the place in detail until he said "It's only just off the M6, ever so easy to get to."

At this point it dawned on me that he thought I had said 'Penrith'.
