Re: Dr Who on hold

How about (shock horror) someone we've never heard of but is brilliant in the role?

Re: Dr Who on hold

The best news is the departure of RTD - not that I'm ungrateful, but ... no, all right, I'm ungrateful - and the possibility of Steven Moffat getting the lead writer job. The man has an imagination that can do wonders for the series. But how depressingly, saddeningly awful to think that it could have been Douglas Adams (gone but never forgotten).

And I agree with Harpo.

Perhaps worth noting that six of the seven 'Original' Doctors were all better known as comic actors before they boarded the Tardis (Colin Baker is the odd one out). The first three went even further, starting as stand up comedians!

So I think Atkinson could fit right in. He has the right pedigree.
Stephen Fry also has the personality to go with it, but I would be worried for Tardis stability. He is approaching the point where he is as wide as he is tall.
Wonder what Griff Rhys Jones is doing?

Or Steve Wright!? (laconic comic from stateside - is it time for an American yet? - "Lots of planets have Big Apples") He's the man who gave us "I had a dream the other night ... no, wait a minute ... that wasn't me ..."

Or Harry Hill, who'd probably say "A new Doctor Who? There's only one way to settle this. FIIIIIGHT!"
