Would you reccomend WoT?

Would you reccomend WoT to a person with an average reading speed ... like me?

I still haven't read all of the books myself, but I'd recommend reading the WoT if you have a lot of time to spare. The early books are better than the later ones, and Robert Jordan's tendency towards sometimes unnecessarily descriptive prose gets tiresome sometimes, but if you like epic fantasy then you could try it. There are a lot of flaws, that's for certain, but I would try the first book and see how you get on.

Have you been put off by the posts in threads like "Have you stopped reading the WoT", PP?

It's not exactly the number of books in the series or the size of each one - more the fact that the plot seems to get nowhere in the later books, and they can be a bit repetitious.

Certainly they're worth a try - there are lots of people who consider them the best thing since sliced bread - and make your own mind up whether you can afford to invest the time in reading them.

Well I'm quite strange, in this forum at least, for liking Jordans work quite a bit. although he has lost the plot somewhat recently! I also don't like recommending books for others to read, who knows what who likes?
However I would say, read the first three books I really enjoyed these and they pretty much stand alone and you don't get bogged down by the sheer length of the series. Then, if you enjoy this first dip carry on reading.

Although be wary. Take into consideration what the people here are saying, even though you should decide for yourself. Some of us who have started reading wished we never did, but now find ourselves almost obligated to know the ending.

A long time ago, someplace not too far away, Robert Jordan said something to the effect that the series would be around six books long. I think it go extended to ten. And now were waiting for the twelfth and last...

You have a choice here as to whether or not you wish to read twelve books, that sort of loose the plot in the second half of the series. Some of us did not have that choice, because we kept expecting the end to come...

The good thing is that you won't have to do loads of waiting like the rest of us.
