Re: Not the sharpest swords in the armory Egg, I'm rereading AGOT. I just read Catelyn's chapter where she joins up with Robb's army at Moat Cailin. The northmen's preparation and attitude is in Stark contrast to Renly's army that Catelyn also sees marching to war.

Re: Not the sharpest swords in the armory Well TK, while Patton was admirable in his ability to maintain military discipline and prepare a large force for battle.. his ability to actually engage an enemy wasnt quite what popular culture make him out to be....so that borders on an insult...hee. Boaz- Was Stark capitalized on purpose? We know that Stannis' host was defeated at Kings Landing because of the Tyrells' deception, but part of the reason was they lacked discipline. A large portion of the host was those lords that quickly renounced Renly. If someone will desert your cause while standing on a sunlit field and eating peaches, Im sure theyll desert you when faced with unquenchable fire and restless spirits. No point to that, just commenting how Catelyn was correct....

Re: Not the sharpest swords in the armory Yes, the pun was intended. I prefer Capitalization and italics to .And after all the posts here, I think that's the first use of that particular pun. Now AU, Wiggum, or Dolorous Edd will magically reappear and prove me wrong.

Re: Not the sharpest swords in the armory Robb Stark had better training as a military leader and better disciplined army to boot. Renly may be older than Robb but never had the military training. Renly thought it was a game were he was going to march north from Stormend and smash their opponent. But Renly did have the numbers, considering his force was over a hundred thousand strong, no opponent would last very long in that fight. He got most of those troops from the Tyrells because he married their daughter. So he was a better politician than Robb ever was, because he marriage give him an army. Stannis army was made mostly of lords that were loyal to Stormsend not Stannis, but with the death of Renly, their loyalties goes to Stannis, since he is the rightful heir. Stannis should have figured out what the Tyrells army was doing before he made his advancement towards KL. But there is a point in lords switching sides so quickly. They should not be trusted, which is why Stannis should have figured out what was going on with the Tyrells first. Then he would have some time to valuate his army's strength and weaknesses.

Re: Not the sharpest swords in the armory It is a toss up to the slaver and Robb. The slavers should have been smart enough to know that Dany was going to due something. If I was in that position I would be careful. But Robb made the biggest bone head mistake a king could due, when he married that sweet Westerling girl. Losing half his army in the process. So Robb is the winner by a head, because he lost his for that mistake.

Re: Not the sharpest swords in the armory Funny Theon has gotten no votes, even though, he: a) did not even recognize his sister and was coming onto her; b) thought that his papa would bend the knee to Robb; and c) didn't see that Bolton's bastard would betray him at Winterfell. So, what's the consensus on Theon? Is he just an arrogant cowardly little sh@#t?

Re: Not the sharpest swords in the armory The 'advantage' that theon has, is that he has been pictured as an idiot/villain from the beginning. His stupidity doesn't come as a surprise. ![]()

Re: Not the sharpest swords in the armory Have you noticed what all of our candidates have in common? They are either dead or in captivity. Theon should really get some votes, common people.

Re: Not the sharpest swords in the armory Took me quite some time to figure out who to vote for. Edmure Tully not really stupid he just wasnt informed of what the plans were and therefore acted as he felt was the smart move at the time. The Slavers were not really stupid in the sense of the word stupid, they werre just tricked by Danny as they didnt know she spoke the language and therefore had the situation under their control. Theon was actually smart, but didnt think his plan through, he had a plan perfected it to perfection and then he didnt think of what to do next, kind of like Bush ![]() My vote goes to Robb, his stupidity came from inexperience. His marriage for love is a beautifull thing, but stupid thing to do, i think Robb didnt think of The Late Walder as a threat, only thought of him as a silly old man. Karstark affair couldnt have ended in any other way, so no foul there. And then there are all the little things, losing his only real bargaining chip againt the lannisters and so on, just to many small mistakes and they added up to what is called "The Weding Incident" ![]()

Re: Not the sharpest swords in the armory the Astapor slavetraders have my vote. they committed the worst of errors, effectively sold the armour and sword off their back and gave it to a possible enemy as they stood there naked with nothing to show for it.

Re: Not the sharpest swords in the armory Well I've voted for Robb after much consideration! I think the slavers were stupid, but I don't really care enough about them as characters to be infuriated by their stupidity, the same way I was when Robb married Jeyne Westerling. I really liked Robb, so it pains me to pick him, but after it took so much effort to secure the Frey alliance, to lose it in that way (which really could have been avoided) is awful, especially as the boy had done so well in battle - marriage should've been the easy part.

Re: Not the sharpest swords in the armory I see after having put my vote in it is quite close between Robb and the Slavetraders. After much contemplation, I myself voted for Robb. Robb was one of my favorite characters, until he made the huge mistake of marrying Jeyne Westerling. I'm all for marrying for love, but he had to know there would be major consequences for that. You knew just reading that section that Robb had done some major damage, but I still didn't see the Red Wedding coming. Quite the shocker.
