Re: Brits to Blame?

Hmm, yes. Do I hear the sound of a buck being passed our way?

Re: Brits to Blame?

This is just thrashing about, trying to distract attention from the real problems the Bush administration has in Iraq.

"Can't sort out our failures to subdue the militants? Tell you what, let's blame the Brits!"

After all, we're just about the only other country foolish enough to stand by the US, commit the most troops, suffer the most "friendly fire" incidents, and stay there for the last four years or so - it must be our fault!

Re: Brits to Blame?

I think we might do a little better if we didn't have to worry about friendly fire from our allies.

Re: Brits to Blame?

That we have done, what we have done, with what we had at our disposal is beyond a miracle. Wars are not fought as occupations or as security forces – Soldiers exist to ‘kill’ people, that is their role, that is their job, no if’s or but’s, there are no innocents in war – The minute you lose sight of that is the minute you lose said war, as it is highly doubtful your enemy will comply with your world view of fluffy bunnies and happy pills. So it’s not a war but an occupation and land grasp and so is economical at heart. Best way to keep order is through fear in the short term, solders being the lousiest excuse for a peacekeeping force that ever existed, how can you create piece with a gun? But control is possible, you just have to leave your morality as part of the toll at the gate, but I’m damned if I could do that.

Re: Brits to Blame?

Damn - we should have killed more civilians and then claimed they were militants. Like you know who.
