Finding a book I read a long time ago, Fantasy

Both of them are science fiction/fantasy novels. Both span more than one book.

The first one:
A pair of evil twins, a guy and a girl rule over the land. They have the ability to create voids or some type of black nexus tornado which can destroy things. The hero of the story, when he is young, loses his arm and is then fashioned a metal or golden arm instead. He is taught in a monastery with all these smart people. But then the twins destroy the monastery. Other heros include a mother, who was touched by one of the voids. It transforms her body into stone so that she turns into a hulk-like being. Another is the hunter kind of guy and the last is a girl, the hero's love interest who also happens to drink/eat blood. In the first novel, the hero gets a part of the spear. In the second he gets another part and uses the two parts to create a golden light that can heal almost anything, but the problem is that using only two of the three parts severely taxes and ages him. Instead of traveling to find the third piece of the spear, he instead decides to stay back to defend a small island of people from the evil twins. In doing so, he ages considerably. A prophet told him that if he stayed, the chances of getting the third piece would be extremely hard. He does manage to wound the twins, but thanks to this wound, they are able to develop a technique (involving them having sex with each other), that virtually makes them invulnerable. They develop, in essences, a healing/immortality technique. And that's where I stopped reading.

The second book:
Is about this simple tribesman with a spear. His simpleness is always emphasized. A dying person lands on their shore and makes a dying request, and being the honorable and great guy he is, he takes it upon himself to finish the request no matter what. The request is to save this princess-like figure from this evil guy. I forget how he gets the spear, but the hero tribesman has this really powerful spear. On his journey, he encounters a tornado chasing after a jaguar, because the jaguar said that he was faster than any tornado. The hero manages to solve their differences. In another part, he gets tranported to our world and is frightened by all the beasts running around so fast (I think they were cars). In another part, he is captured by soldiers and he calls upon his spear to send a meteor down so that he can escape. Through all his journeys, he acts casually, honorably and simply. And through all the crazy situations he gets himself into, he is able to get through by staying true to himself and his honorableness. And that's where I stopped reading.

I wish I knew what these books were...

Number 2 sounds like an Alan Dean Foster novel called Carnivores of Light and Darkness which is the first book in the Journeys of the Catechist series. Good stuff too. The ending is the absolute best.

I always envy people who can pluck a books name out of their heads like that.

Actually it can sometimes be a curse let me tell you MUWHA!!...

I play a game with friends and office staff I meet in various companies (those who are into Fantasy) and enjoy watching the look on their faces when they give me a few scraps of info and I'm able to quote publication date, author and title seemingly out of thin air...

Unfortunately in this case I've not read these books so that makes it slighlty more difficult...
