| CIA, FBI computers used for Wikipedia edits I saw this report a few days ago, please forgive me if it's been posted already: CIA, FBI computers used for Wikipedia edits | U.S. | Reuters "WASHINGTON (Reuters) - People using CIA and FBI computers have edited entries in the online encyclopedia Wikipedia on topics including the Iraq war and the Guantanamo prison, according to a new tracing program. The changes may violate Wikipedia's conflict-of-interest guidelines, a spokeswoman for the site said on Thursday." |

Re: CIA, FBI computers used for Wikipedia edits It also seems the Canadian government is hard at work in cyberspace as well: A website that tracks the origins of millions of edits to Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia, shows that computers inside federal government offices are responsible for more than 11,000 changes to articles, including some significant edits of entries about parliamentarians. WikiScanner, a website launched on Monday by a U.S. New 'WikiScanner' exposes underhanded editors Another article I read says the Church of Scientology is also actively changing wiki entries.

Re: CIA, FBI computers used for Wikipedia edits Orwell is spinning like a gyroscope in his cold grave . . . . This is one of several critical reasons why Wikipedia and the moronic premises that animate it are utter rubbish. Another one is that I was publicly libeled on there three years ago. No proper peer review on something of this nature equates with an enormous potential for abuse.

Re: CIA, FBI computers used for Wikipedia edits Hmm. Yes, proof (if such were needed) that Wikipedia letting anyone and everyone update stuff on their site is counter-productive. Not to mention stupid, idiotic and utterly pointless. Allow morons free reign and you'll get garbage; allow morons and governments free reign...god help you. ![]()

Re: CIA, FBI computers used for Wikipedia edits Exactly why I thought WIKI was a dumb idea from the first. Anyone with an agenda can see to it that their version of an event gets told. I'm actually less worried about the CIA etc. than those who claim there was no holocost, and other fictionary view points.
