Im trying to find a book I had read years ago...

Despite the fact that I've not got a clue about the author's name, or the book's title.

Anyway, this is what I remember about it, though its all pretty fuzzy.

-The book is about a particular individual of an enslaved feline/humanoid race who happens to sport golden fur and golden eyes.

-She's bought (at a very very young age) by the daughter of an emperor, who happen to be lizard like humanoids with large frills about their heads. as it goes, I think, the daughter sees her in a bazaar like area and beggs her father(the emperor) to buy the golden cub-child.

-As she grows up, she is contacted by another of her kind(or maybe
someone else) who tells her she is some sort of prophesied leader to lead herself and her people to freedom from slavery, and is given an amulet (crystal?) that gives visions/ proves heritage, something like that...

*The second book in the series has her too, but she'd been sold, taking blame for some prank the princess had done. She was trained for some sort of gladiatorial fighting..

Now, there were probably others to these books, but I had only read the first two. if anyone knows which books these are, or even has an inkling of author/title, please help me out.

I think Steven Spielburg has an interest in the company who published this series, but I can't remeber the title.

She is sold because the princess dislikes the emperor's choice of consort. The consort, get pregnant, or in the case of the lizardian races, is carrying a clutch of eggs. The princess wanted her to just be phyically ill, but the agent that she uses causes the consort to loose the clutch of eggs.

Yeah, that's defiantly the one I'm looking for... the consort ends up with giant greenish-yellow splotches all over her scales, before loosing the eggs.

and I don't think it's something CJ Cherryh has done, but Ill check again. :3 Never know, what with only reading The Dreaming Tree by her..

I don't think it's by CJ Cherryh, either. I've read practically all of her books, and started all. Didn't finish one.

Ah, as cool as it would be to find it again so soon, it is unfortunately not the one I'm looking for.

It wouldn't by chance be, The Golden One, by Deborah Chester? The first book in LucasFilm's Alien Chronicles.
