Re: What Now?

Possibly the best thing about the HP books was the characteristics of the characters. All of them had something in them that made you want to read on just to see what will happen to them.

I'm not sure she could pull off this attraction in crime novels. It's a different style of writing all together

Re: What Now?

Yeah but as I said, it will only be good if she can pull it off, though she did pull of parts of HP quite well...

Writers that write merely for money are called hacks, and I don't believe J.K. to be one. Despite her successes her novels have remained of a certain quality and retained their charm throughout.

Re: What Now?

I think the epilogue of DH leaves things wide open for JK to do a retrospective / "what happened during the intervening 19 years", after everyone's had a bit of a HP rest (say about 5 years). Certainly the way the whole last few pages of DH was written points pefectly towards that - and maybe then we can get some of the huge gaps filled in!!!

I wanna know what happened to: the Wesleys (how did they cope with Fred's death?); McGonagall, Sprout, Flitwick & Slughorn; most of the students whom we know didn't die, especially Luna, Seamus, Dean & Malfoy; the Dursleys......and of course how Harry's, Ron's and Hermione's careers panned out. And that's just for starters!!!

Re: What Now?

If she writes something new, especially something more adult, I will almost certainly put it on my "to read" list. And I will try to keep an open mind. Yes, even a crime novel, if that's what she's planning. (That ABC news article seemed a little sketchy.) I'm not a big fan of crime novels. But then, I didn't think I was a big fan of YA fiction. And here we are.

Re: What Now?

I heard she was in the midst of writting an Anthology for HP. I mean the directors of the 5 movie had to ask her for a copy of the Black family tree so they could get it Historically correct for the movie. I think its gonna be interesting to she the history of the wizarding world and families.

Its gonna be like the Encyclopedias they wrote for LODR

Re: What Now?

I think it would be a lot like The Silmarillion or Unfinished Tales.

Re: What Now?

A thriller? That's what she already did, in a way.

I'd be happy to read a quite different story, but a Fantasy one. A story for Adults.

Anyway she'll never stop writing because she's a writer. A writer can't stop

Re: What Now?

A writer can only stop writing if forced to and a writer can never write when forced to.

Re: What Now?

Well every writer has challenges, but what will hers be. I think for the most part she will in all her future works have to compete with the Harry Potter Series. Her ability to write a book and keep the audience will be judged in comparison with the HP series.

Re: What Now?

I wonder what she will aim at this time....... A science fiction, fairy tale, drama, comedy, thriller or romance. Lol... i would really like to see her attempt romance, moreover drama and comedy. She is a great writer, probably the greatest in our time but the time has come for here to prove herself.

Re: What Now?

You have a good point there. She has shown she can write one thing but can she write another?
