Winterbirth by Brian Ruckley I have just started reading this book and i am totally hooked. I have already rattled through the first 320 pages in two days. If anyone is looking for a new read, then i wholeheartedly recommend this.

Re: Winterbirth by Brian Ruckley Really? I've heard many good things about it, but everytime I look at it, it just shouts at me not to buy it. The synopsis just sounds so bad Is it very cliched?

Re: Winterbirth by Brian Ruckley Not really, we have a war of religion intertwined with ethnic cleansing and massacres The characters are well written and it rattles on a lightning quick pace. I finished within the week.

Re: Winterbirth by Brian Ruckley I picked this up from my library at the start of the year, as part of my plan to read more widely of the newer voices in fantasy. Sadly it didn't really grip me - I think I may have got fifty or a hundred pages in before I put it aside for Gardens of the Moon, and then I just never went back to it. I was in the same boat as Rane, unimpressed by the blurb, but I must say Wert's review makes it sound a lot more interesting and perhaps worthy of a second attempt... Wert - who is 'Durham'? Not a name I'm familiar with, certainly not associated with those names...

Re: Winterbirth by Brian Ruckley I did get around to reading this in the end - wasn't impressed at all, and I won't be reading any more. There are plenty of good books out there waiting to be read that put this easily in the shade. Cul - David Anthony Durham, author of Acacia, I'm assuming.
