Re: Which is your favourite book? (Any series) Robinton is great, but I don't like MHoP much. It's hard to believe Menolly's story about girls not being allowed to be Harpers if just a generation earlier they had a female MasterHealer and even more surprising, female sea captains (given how conservative the folks at Yanus Sea Hold were). After that, the Harper Hall books lose all their impact. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that I personally don't count MHoP as Pern canon at all, because it conflicts with so many precedents.

Re: Which is your favourite book? (Any series) I'd have to say that Dragonquest and The White Dragon where my favorite. I haven't gotten to read the others, as i've only known about Ane Mccaffery for a year, and I'm a slow reader.

AMcC isn't noted for her continuity anyway, but this is really a glaring contradiction. | |

Re: Which is your favourite book? (Any series) I must admit I did enjoy the Acorna series very much. Dragon Riders was for me, far more enjoyable, with Master Harper being my favourite...

Re: Which is your favourite book? (Any series) Digging up a fairly old thread, but... I have to update my list to include The Crystal Singer. I know I read it a while back, but I really should have posted here about it, too, given how much I enjoyed it.

Re: Which is your favourite book? (Any series) To Ride Pegasus or Pegasus in Flight? The first is a collection of short stories, the second a novel. Both are very good, but the best IMO is the last in the series, Pegasus in Space.

Re: Which is your favourite book? (Any series) Of the Pern books, Dragonsdawn is my favorite, but I also love both Moreta and Nerilka. Also, Dragonsong and Dragonsinger. I really like MHoP, but, as has been mentioned by others, found myself somewhat bothered by some continuity issues and the women's role that didn't fit with what was portrayed in other books. Loved Crystal Singer, first 3 books of the Freedom series. Absolute favorite is Nimisha's Ship. But enjoy everything she wrote alone, and most of the others.

Re: Which is your favourite book? (Any series) My favorite book of hers is the first one I ever read. The first three Dragonriders of Pern combined into an omnibus, my favorite of those is probably The White Dragon. Yes...nostalgia....love it love it.
