Yeah Cheers Nesa. I like the idea of Harry and Ron becoming aurors, I suspectedat least Harry might.

Thanks Balinor and Nesa - really interesting, especially the idea that JKR might do her own encyclopaedia of HP. But surely someone has already done one? If not, can it be long before we get an unauthorised one from somewhere?

What she can add is all the material she's written in the background, as theory for stuff that's been published, but never quite made it. Character backgrounds, places, timelines that we never quite saw, and so on. Plus inventing new stuff for post-epilogue life.

Link has already been posted or I have seen it at least and it doesn't really tell you all that much more.

i heard some where that she wasnt going to write any spinoff's or anything, i guess that was a lie. i still think that should going into a bit more detail in the weasley family like waht happened to all the other kids and parents ect.

Re: Expanded epilogue with Rowling

Is it a spinoff? I thought it would be more of a completion.

Re: Expanded epilogue with Rowling

The epilogue is set up so there could conceivably be more books. Not necessarily spin-offs but a next generation sort of thing.

And yes I do remember seeing an encyclopedia of sorts in the shops. I'm sure there'll be many more. Probably a Dummies one too just like there is for Lord of the Rings.

Re: Expanded epilogue with Rowling

The issue for those hoping to do spin-offs for this series, rather than Tolkein, is that JKR and Warner have trademarks and copyright (#) on pretty much everything Potter related. I'd have thought the Tolkein material is now out of date for such thing. Even trying to say something is "unofficial" (as such products usually do, if not approved) is probably not enough to escape the legal wrath of JKR/Warner.

# - The book text is (c) to JKR, the covers to the publisher's pet artists. After that copyright notice comes "Harry Potter, names, characters and related indicia are copyright and trademark Warner Bros., 2000"

Re: Expanded epilogue with Rowling

Lord Of The Rings isn't out of copyright yet, only like 54 years or something, and anyway New Line has a lot of copyright to that now.

The Epilogue would be interesting but only that. I don't think it could have as much thrill.

Re: Expanded epilogue with Rowling

Even in that interview she is still vague on many things such as -

1) The next Hogwarts Headmaster.
2) Do Harry, Ron and Hermione complete their final school year?
3) Hagrid.
4) The Dursleys.
5) Neville and Luna.
