Re: Liquid Story Binder

I downloaded the trial but I never really delved into it. I must have a more in depth poke around.

So what's so good about it anyway? What are the features you like?

I don't use organizational software. I'm a touch disorganized and I like it that way

But if it helps you, then awesome. Key is finding your trick, innit?

Re: Liquid Story Binder

Well since you asked whats so great let me tell you...

To start, liquid story binder is truly a tool made specifically for writers. It has a number of features that are really traditional tools of writers but easier to manipulate because the information is digital.

I cant explain it, you just need to check it out for yourself. Download the demo, you can use for for 30 non-consecutive days...meaning 30 days of use....use it one day and not the next 4, then use it again and its only day 2.

Grab it from: www.blackobelisksoftware.com

It's a fully featured demo, nothing is disabled. Its only $45 to purchase, which isnt much. Try it for free, what ya got to lose?

Re: Liquid Story Binder

As I said I downloaded and installed it awhile ago. I opened it up again this morn, and tried to have a play around, but I couldn't really get into it. A more intuitive interface - at least, from my viewpoint - would be handy. I think I'll stick with a simple word processor for the time being.

Re: Liquid Story Binder

Download the new version XE....open up the sample book and then go to Open and choose the various sample files. Look at the timeline sample, the sequence sample, the dossier sample, and the outline sample. you cant do that with a word processor.

Re: Liquid Story Binder

Uh, I gotta say I disagree with this being a great writer's tool. I hated it, really. It's a good idea in concept with a lot of tools, but none of them are connected. It's like a bag that a lego, a couple of pieces from mechanix, a screwdriver, a little teacup, and a barbie doll. All toys, but don't really work well together.

It would have been better had the various components been integrated. Create a character through the dossier, and then be able to call up that character on the time line sheet. Create a plot outline on the time line sheet, and have it show up, well, anywhere... Anything you create exists only in that one space.

And not intuitive at all. It was the clumsiest program in that regard that I've seen in, well, years. Very steep curve with zero instructions. That make sense, anyway.

I give it a huge thumbs down and will never willingly use it again.

But hey, if it works for other people, great.
