A Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi Story Idea

As the title says, I'm working on an idea for a post-apocalyptic novel, centered on a mans journey to search for his wife and daughter in a world similar to that of Fallout, Mad Max, etc. Can I get any feedback on this idea, whether its a feasible idea or not?

Sure. Why not? Why would there be a problem? If you're worried about the post-apocalyptic setting being over-used, just look at all the undead novels crowding the shelves in your local bookstore. Way more of those floating around than most other sub-genres, at least in my neck of the woods. If you love the idea, it should translate into an interesting story in any setting.

Any idea is feasible. It just depends on what you do with it.

As Birol said, every idea is feasible, it's all about presentation and style. Bring something new to the table with a talking cockroach or something.

Re: A Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi Story Idea

So far, here is what I've got in terms of plot:

In 2027, World War 3 was initiated, and by 2030, more than 75% of the world was essentially destroyed. The novel begins in the year 2317. A man, who lives in Montana, is determined to find his wife and daughter, who left him 3 years ago. After waiting three years, depressed and lonely, he decides to find them.

Think Fallout.

This is what I've got so far, what do you all think?

What you've written is still just the premise, not the plot or the outline. Start writing, start outlining. Move forward. What matters is the execution, not the idea or the plot.

I'm currently doing it. Also, I'm using a great piece of software called yWriter. Really great program for writers, and it's free too.
