Yeah, me too. *sigh* Although, I was out to an early dinner this afternoon and among the restaurant music was "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" (from "Ram"), and I was quite enjoying that. Frightened me slightly that I remembered the words, especially when I recalled how long ago it came out (I was in about 9th or 10th grade...went and looked it up - it was the end of 9th grade). Song lyrics seem to stick in my brain like that. |

Re: Any McCartney Fans? Post-Beatles, Wings brought out three great albums - Venus and Mars, Band on the Run and Speed of Sound. After that though, I can't say anything else he's done has had any impact on me.

Re: Any McCartney Fans? I think his stuff was the best Beatles' stuff. Let it be, Yesterday, For no one, Golden Slumbers... I'm not saying Lennon or Harrison didn't write great songs (the acoustic demo of Something was, well, something...) but McCartney was the best of the lot, imo. He was a victim of the 80s, like so many other great bands (Jefferson Airplane, anyone?), but you know Lennon would have been writing soppy songs with frogs in the background too, if he'd lived. I love Mull of Kintyre and Calico Skies. Boo hiss.

Re: Any McCartney Fans? I think I lost any liking for Mull of Kintyre after the 709th time it was shown at the end of TOTP. Who the hell kept buying it week after week I can't imagine...unless it was Paul himself

Re: Any McCartney Fans? I had a lot of time for Denny Laine, so that's a point in its favour. Poor old Denny, when he left Wings he tried for a solo career and I remember him appearing on Pebble Mill to sing (mime) a new release of the hit he had with The Moody Blues, Go Now (if you remember that one), but the berks put the wrong side on the record player and Denny's solo career went down the toilet. Maybe it would have anyway, but I don't remember him getting another national TV slot. I think he must've made plenty out of Wings though, since he has a joint writing credit for Mull of Kintyre.
