Tell Me Why?

I've not read any works by this author before, so fans of his tell me why I should try him

Her.

Littlemissattitude has some book reviews of her work up here:

Might be helpful.

I'd say because her stories are inventive, intelligent and just plain fun to read. Since they involve time travel they can get a bit mind-twisting at times but that is part of the fun

Re: Tell Me Why?

Thanks for the links, I found the reviews interesting. Not sure if they grab me though as I tend to shy off from Sci-Fi. Gets too technical and spoils the story for me. It's all those long words, I can't cope

Now if Baker had written a fantasy novel then I would be tempted.

Re: Tell Me Why?

Actually, she has written a fantasy novel, "The Anvil of the World". I haven't read it yet, but I've heard good things about it.

I wouldn't let worries about her sci-fi being too technical and jargon-filled stop you from trying her work. I don't even recall that there is ever an explanation of how Mendoza's "credenza" - the piece of equipment that she uses to analyze specimens in her botany work - operates. It's just there and it works.

Oh, and sorry that it took me so long to see this thread - I'm still trying to get back on track and on schedule after devoting all of last week to the ballet.
