Rush - 2112 - "2112"

(Getting a little proggy myself, though I tend to hear them more through a hard rock filter.)

Dio - The Last in Line - "The Last in Line"

"We are coming...

HOOOOOOOOME!!!"

Read someone somewhere marveling about how such a huge voice could come from such a tiny man or words to that effect. And I love that everything I've heard of him live is at least a reasonable approximation of the studio stuff. He wasn't a studio poseur. *sigh* We've lost some good ones lately.

Sorry - got un-proggy (but I'll probably play A Farewell to Kings next). That's a very interesting movie. I've never heard the music apart from the movie (and I've only seen that twice) so I'm not sure what it would be like but it was effective "in place".

Ah Rush - much love for the trio.

Bruno Mars - The lazy Song

All the Prog talk has me tempted to look out some King Crimson.

The Reverend Horton Heat - The Full Custom Gospel Sounds of The Reverend Horton Heat - "Wiggle Stick"

About as un-prog as you can get, I think - regressive rock! But I did play A Farewell to Kings earlier. It's only psycho-temporal whiplash, but I like it.

No worries about being un-proggy, I like almost every kind of music.

And as for Tangerine Dream scoring soundtracks for movies (including television), they've done quite a few films and I've collected most of their work.
