It's the first time I've heard it as well, although I bought the double CD quite a while ago. (I have more of a to-be-listened-to pile than a to-be-read pile.)

The Kalinnikov piece, I've just read, is based on a (very) short poem by Heinrich Heine, one that Liszt made into a song; now I have heard that piece before.

Do they have any similarities? I really need to rediscover my classical/more musical music and have a good listen. The closest I get is Holst, Vivaldi and Handel.
