Re: Now Playing...

Lol, I love how we're having a sneaky conversation here. And yes, they frequently do. We have a local club place called The Lemon Grove, and relatively well known bands play there. We had the Automatic visit recently.

Wheeey! Bob Dylan - It's All Over Now, Baby Blue...I love this song, it's what made me start liking him.

Re: Now Playing...

And why shouldn't we be doing?

The first Dylan song I 'got intp' was Ballad of a Thin Man - a friend sent it to me about 6 months ago.

I want to listen to the Automatic album now. So I shall... but not in order!!

The Automatic - You Shout, You Shout, You Shout, You Shout

With the little rendition of This Little Piggy in it.

---

Methinks I've heard of The Lemon Grove... either that or I'm thinking of the Banana Grove in Phoenix Nights.

Re: Now Playing...

I'm not a huge fan of the Automatic, myself. They're ok, I guess.

Re: Now Playing...

They're good for Autumn, I find. Like The Kooks are good for Spring, and The Libertines (second album) is a cracker for winter... in fact, all the time.

Re: Now Playing...

Tsss. Have you listened to their album?

I used to hate them at first, but eventually they grew on me and now they're one of my favourite bands.

Re: Now Playing...

Fine... be that way.

I know what you mean though - there are quite a few albums that I turn off and delete after a few songs. Sam's Town, Empire and Skip to the End spring to mind...

Re: Now Playing...

I'm listening to the Libertines now. Pity I got into them after they had split up - I was gutted.

I'm also not a fan of the Kooks. I listen to the album occasionally, cos it stares at me and says, "You never really gave me a chance." But not one track sticks in my mind afterwards.

Sam's Town is ok, but not as good as Hot Fuss. It follows the same kind of formula - half the tracks a bit crap, the other half really great. Unfortunately, the "great" tracks on Hot Fuss were a lot greater.

Why can't bands do a decent second album these days? Cases in point: Razorlight, Killers, The Strokes, Kasabian (tbh though I didn't listen to their first) erm... Tenacious D... and I'm really scraping the barrell now

PS - anyone heard The Good, the Bad, and the Queen yet? It's supposed to be good, but I haven't had chance to listen to it yet.

Re: Now Playing...

Same here with The Libertines, Green. I only found out about that after they'd been and gone.
