As long as the duplicator as a built in ethicator, otherwise you get into all that "Evil duplicate Calvin" malarky...

And yes, a female Doctor would go against EVERYTHING that GROSS stands for!

Re: New Doctor?

Just a wee point about all this speculation about the Doctor changing gender.

All this stems from a remark made by Tom Baker at his leaving press conference.

I'm given to understand he said something along the lines of I wish good luck to my succesor who ever he or SHE is. He left at that leaving the producer trying to field the media questions about whether the Doctor would be changing sex.

I dont think anyone has ever actually considered it apart from that comic relief show, mmmm, Joanna Lumley as the doctor.....now that was a bit odd!

This speculation is more recent, and theorising about RTD's plans....

Re: New Doctor?

Let's sort this out shall we?

The return of the master has nothing at all to do with the number of regenerations he had left - he had none left but thats irrelevant. The Timelords regenerated the Master for a special guest appearance in the Time War because they thought he had the skills and attitude necessary to defeat the upturned pepperpots. When the Master failed and realised he was alone, he did the transferthingy and put all his time-lord energy into a fob watch.

A female doctor - get stuffed! It would make for a fantastic episode, if the doctor and his companion were to switch bodies for some reason. They dabbled with it in "New Earth" but I would love to see how David Tennant and Catherine Tate would manage a body swap episode - but just one ep, no female doctors please.

A female master, on the other hand, would be far more satisfying. A concept hinted at in the final ep of Season 3. Any thoughts...

Re: New Doctor?

I too feel that if they turned the Dr. into a woman, I would stop watching. I would love to see someone like Kenneth Branaugh tackle the Dr. He's a bit older and gorgeous to boot!
