Re: New Doctor? Ahh... I could see a female Doctor--though I can't think of a good reason for such a change. It would have to get wrapped up in some DW-ish tech-speak about exposure to radioactive pink Gallifrenite or something... But anyway, I can imagine a woman taking on that role easily, and I wouldn't be particularly peeved about it. I mean, the Doctor is intelligent enough that they wouldn't run around going, "Oh, how cool, I've got boobies! Now I can wear that sports bra Rose left in the closet!" And let's face it: Dialog like that will kill the show a lot faster than a gender change...

Re: New Doctor? My mum seems to think Alison Steadman would make a good female Doctor or even Diana Rigg but I guess seen as they are both quiet old the couldn't be a love intrest ..whatever.

Re: New Doctor? The rate we’re going, I suspect that when it is time for the next regeneration, we’ll have something called Doc Factor X in which we’ll be asked to vote for the next actor.

Re: New Doctor? I've got quite a soft spot for old Romana, especially in her first regeneration when she was icy and arrogant and considered the Doctor beneath her. Although in the extended univserse books, her third regeneration went a bit evil and blew up Gallifrey. Women, huh? ![]() To be honest, if they want a female Doc, I rekon they should just bring Romana back and give her her own show, rather than give thel Doctor a pair of implants and a John Wayne Bobbit.

Re: New Doctor? Oh, of course there are solutions - that's the beauty and the curse of time-travel. But I do prefer a little internal consistency.... BTW, have you still not got the Little Red Spaceship fixed? I can recommend a good pick-up service if you need it! ![]()

Re: New Doctor? I think there are ladies who like to lord it every once in a while, 'specially over the weaker sex (that's us, guys). A female Doctor makes perfect sense - not afraid to ask directions, good at multi-tasking and, if RTD is in control, lots of lesbian sex to look forward to. ![]()

First, before I get into that, I remember when I was at college in the 80s discussing the gender-change possibilities after Peter Davidson. Beryl Reed was the prime candidate then and, I still think, she'd have been an excellent choice for that era. Now, back to Spaceship's point. Without opening the entire debate for discussion, there are as many people around today who are unsure of their own sexuality as there ever were, but the opportunities to do something about it are greater. When once a young adolescent says "why can't I have a sex change, Dad, Doctor Who had one??" then I think we're going to stray into strange social territory. And you can bet your bottom (comma), Dollar (comma), someone's going to say it. I think I'll change my vote. Although I'd welcome a female doctor, since gender orientation may not mean the same to someone who can regenerate anyway, I'd be concerned now that it might generate ambivolence and increase the chances of screwing up an impressionable youngster's life-choice decision-making processes. Of course, RTD is already doing everything he can in that area. (Homophobic? Me? Don't be gay!) Did any of that make sense? There seem to be too many words, somehow. I can send edited highlights to anyone who's interested ... ![]() | |

Re: New Doctor? I personally don't think he should regenerate into a woman. This is only becuase he is a male Timelord, as there are female of his kind. It just wouldn't make sense. He isnt a plant. Unless of course it is (was?) commonplace on Galifray for cross gender regeneration to happen...

Re: New Doctor? Coolhand – I’ve just acquired a rather large cardboard box that I think might provide you with the major component for a Duplicator. With a bit of CGI I’m sure the BBC can use it to solve any regeneration problems. BTW From the opinions of some of the posts here, I suspect there be one or two that are members of GROSS. ![]()
