Re: 2007 Christmas Special: Voyage of the Damned

They're now showing multiple trailers, though each is pretty unspecific.
The bad-guys appear to be golden-faced/masked aliens/robots. The doctor implies the space-ship Titanic is in orbit around the Earth. He is currently 903 years old.

Re: 2007 Christmas Special: Voyage of the Damned

In general terms I thought it was a very good episode. Plenty of action, mostly appropriate one-liners and a reasonably sensible plot. One or two spots (like the Buckingham Palace nonsense) were just in for the kids and I could have really done without it. A few plot directions I wasn't expecting and that went against expectation, which is usually a "good thing".

Loved Bernard Cribbins explaining why London is deserted at Christmas!

Re: 2007 Christmas Special: Voyage of the Damned

I was watching it in a rather noisy lounge, so I'll have to watch it again to get the full gist of it. I enjoyed it, even if I missed some of the finer detail -- but was very surprised by how many people died and rather abruptly as well. Felt a little cynical thought pop in at the end when The Doctor said that he travels alone to the old man. No, he doesn't, he just prefers the young, female types

Re: 2007 Christmas Special: Voyage of the Damned

I see what you mean....but I thought it was just because he's not over Rose, and can't give Martha what she wants, so he doesn't really want anyone else in the TARDIS with him at the moment.
Hmm...seem to be less cynical than usual at the moment - must be the Christmas Spirit working..or the Gordon's spirit, more likely...

Re: 2007 Christmas Special: Voyage of the Damned

They've changed the music! They've changed the damn music! It sounds a million times better without the drums (EDIT: Well, the drums they added in - believe me - listen to the music from the last series, and then from the Christmas Special).

Anyway, good episode. What was it, an hour and ten minutes? Apart from the daft Buckingham Palace scene, I enjoyed every minute.

Oh, and was anyone else expecting Dalek Caan to roll out of the chamber, instead of Max *twinkle*, or was it just me?

*THAR BE SPOILERS IN THESE 'ERE [CELESTIAL] WA'ERS!*

If I may dwell on the trailer for next years series (and maybe even the Torchwood trailer that came after the episode, if people permit it), whew! Funtastic. Though there appears to be a lot of... Earth. Please give London a rest! Please!! I saw a figure, wearing a scarf and a brown coat, with white curly hair, and instantly thought, "Lookit! It's that whosey whatsis fella! One of the old Doctors!", amiright?

Catherine Tate looked, erm, interesting. Definitely a different breed of companion to Rose and Martha. Whilst it may get annoying, I'm looking forward to it (and the return of Martha, who I also spied, with my little eyes).

---

Torchwood? NO! Put the rocks away!!

It looked rather good. I caught a glimpse of Martha, and the old team. And a lot of action. Jackington is back, but how I suppose is a question that will be answered in the first episode. I look forward to the time when "Coming Soon" is a sure-fire date on my calendar.

Re: 2007 Christmas Special: Voyage of the Damned

I'm definitely looking forward to the change from doey-eyed, sighing companions. Rose was all right, Martha was OK, but I'm looking forward to someone a bit different.

I was expecting a Dalek, yes. And then I thought of Davros (I hope he makes a return one day).

I spotted Martha, too and I was also trying to see if Rose would be in the trailer, what with talk of her returning for a few episodes.

Great minds think alike then, it seems. I was really hoping that it would be him, actually. Having old enemies like that return is always great, as long as they don't get overused... ('cos that never happens...)

Re: 2007 Christmas Special: Voyage of the Damned

did i spy the eyes (close-up) of a sontaran in that pre-season trail?

hmm.

8/10 - lost marks for buckingham palace stunt (bleh) but gained em back for Mr Copper's excellent one-liner about power & responsibility.

Same as above - when the base of the wheelchair thingy appeared I assumed it was Davros...

I enjoyed the episode. The Palace scene didn't annoy me too much, in fact, the Queen in her curlers I found quite amusing
