Re: 29.13: Last of the Time Lords After doing some searching, apparently the BBC are keeping quiet: The Daily Mirror says "DOCTOR WHO will have two sidekicks in the next series of the show. Martha Jones... will return to find he has a glamorous new assistant." The Sun says "Internet rumours suggest Tom Ellis — Tom Milligan in Saturday’s finale — could be in the frame to be the new sidekick." GMTV says "The mystery new companion will join the Doctor for the entire 13-week run of the next series and is expected to be announced shortly." Some of that can't be true - I didn't find Tom Ellis particularly glamorous for example. Also, I guess this should be taken to a new thread for spoilage reasons now as the new companion is invariably tied up with new plots.

| Re: 29.13: Last of the Time Lords Well, I've found a link on the BBC website which says that the Doctor will have a new sidekick, but not who it is. BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Doctor Who to get extra companion |

Re: 29.13: Last of the Time Lords Ah - someone beat me to it: Martha will do three episodes of Torchwood and return for the second half of the season of Doctor Who. But no word (yet) on who the new side-kick will be.

Re: 29.13: Last of the Time Lords Overall, I thought it was poor, just like a lot of this season. In fact, it has been a couple of days now and I still can't put into words how much I didn't like the last episode. But I'll try. 1. The paradox machine / reset button. 2. The Master's death and Flash Gordon ending. 3. Captain Jack reverting to happy-shiny Jack and not Torchwood grim and brooding Jack. Excellent bit of character development there. 4. Why, when Martha had little to nothing to do for the whole series, did she suddenly have a part that looked like it was written specifically for Rose? 5. The funeral pyre. Someone watching Return of the Jedi recently? 6. The big "Doctor" chanting love fest. It's a shame really. I've been a loyal Who fan for most of my life and this is the price we pay for having it back on the screen. Note to Russell: Just because everyone loves you for bringing the good Doctor back, that doesn't mean you should stop putting in the effort.

Re: 29.13: Last of the Time Lords did russel ever put in that much effort? i missed the first series with chris eccelstin, but i saw the start with david tennant up until now, and i dont' remember any really decent episodes until recently, and that was blink and the family of blood ones. and they weren't written by him im glad martha sticks around. i think she's great. and i do hope she gets over her doc love thing, cos im so tired of that. yes he's cute, but do me a favour, the world can't all love him. and jack didn't annoy me that episode, which was good. i guess cos he wasn't trying to bonk anyone and at the end, before he bounced off, he seemed sweet and bouncy and rogish, the way i think he's MEANT to be the rest of the time, while instead he just comes off as a pratttttt

Re: 29.13: Last of the Time Lords Ach well I see the end of the third Season has brought many comments and views to the fore. I for one have overall enjoyed this season. The only down episodes for me were the Dalek in manhattan episode's and the previous episode to this one. I was watching them on holiday so didnt see the BBC3's for the previous two episdoes confidential. This episode was let down a little by the whole chanting thing, a bit star wars and just a little naff (sorry to Star Wars fans ) I liked John Simms as the master he was suitably twisted, and his casual brutality was amazing to watch. This was a very diferent master to the one we have been used to, and one of his best performances. I think this episode did horror in a more subtle way than say Blink did. the horror of a tenth of the human race being erased, of human killing human....for fun, that sent a cold shiver down my spine. Interesting that two episodes featured children in charge of terrible weapons The family of blood had children who were trained for war, and this one the human race devolving into idiotic children, or am I just over thinking it? Well in my view this was a good ending to an interesting season with mostly hits and only a few (for me) near misses!

Re: 29.13: Last of the Time Lords what i found frightening was the idea of people living at the end of the universe. people killing people for fun isn't scarey to me. it's a horrible reality. but the idea of people getting to the end of the universe, of having no where to go, nothing to hope for, death inevitable that was scarey. what's life without hope, after all.

Re: 29.13: Last of the Time Lords that was a very disappointing episode, and now i look back, none of the episodes of this series were particularly outstanding, apart from Blink, which was the closest i've come to being scared while watching Doctor Who. The whole Psychic thing was a little bit unbelievable (for a sci-fi show) i i don't see Jack becoming the Face of Boe....just the whole thing of at some point he drops the accent, and becomes a giant head in a jar that can communicate telepathically.....just my opinion

Re: 29.13: Last of the Time Lords i liked the family of blood two part thing more than blink, personally, but those were the strongest of the lot in my opinion i also have trouble with teh fact of bo thing. where does the body go? how does his head get THT big? and if he can't die, well how did the face of bo then die? it just seems so stupid. but at least he would stop being so horny! that's one good thing ![]()

Re: 29.13: Last of the Time Lords I thought the aliens in the last few episodes were infact the humans sent to Utopia Otherwise the question remains what happened to them and what is the link between the last 3 episodes. Also I remember the Master giving of an evil laugh when he thinks about Utopia etc It's a shame there was nothing/ no scenes about the humans' experience there, just some speech about it. The Jack - Face of Boe totally out of the blue and knocked me sideways Martha - did not really rate her at all in this series What RTD has done has brought back family viewing - my kids love Dr Who

I did predict (can't remember if I posted it) that a trip back to the end of the universe would feature. Just got wrong who would do it and why. Though using the last humans was a neat twist and plot circle. | |

Re: 29.13: Last of the Time Lords Woo, that was dramatic. A pretty good ending for the series, I should think. Not...fantastic, but still bloody good. The shining, floating Doctor was a little over the top, I guess, no matter how much science they tried to put behind it with the satellites. And the creepy little Doctor/Gollum thing was strange, but perhaps you really would look like that after 900 years. And after...how long did the Face of Boe live? Over 6 million years or something? Well, you end up looking like a big head eventually! ![]() The Master was great, I love his crazy side. And I didn't know you could refuse to regenerate, I thought it was just an involuntary process! Well, there you go... And poor Doctor...he just wanted another Time Lord! Just so he wouldn't be the last, he wouldn't be alone...Mind you, hopefully it won't be the last we see of The Master, if the hand has any significance (and clearly it does, or why would it be there?) The Titanic crashing through the TARDIS wall made me laugh. And also The Doctor's reaction was the same as when Catherine Tate appeared in the TARDIS (I remember it well, because it made me laugh so much). Just like he did with the Titanic at the end of this episode, he said "What?" about three times with Tate, thus both recent series have ended on the same word ![]() Argh, so long to wait for the Christmas episode and even longer for the next series...d'oh!
