I think it was freedom fields.

I saw a documentary on him on Channel 5 and had to go buy the album. Its good enjoying his take on traditional folk elements, i love the first song and the song he talks about shooting his true love (cheerful stuff I know!) its just interesting. His sound is quite original, very refreshing might be loking up some more of his work. Is the song "curse You" on any albums he sang it for somebody else its not one he wrote.

Drat, its a fantastic song just wished I had remmebred who wrote it, suppose I should look it up on Wikipedia thanks for the help.

as a long-serving audio specialist for HMV i know a bit about most things (except bassline, garage and anything that sounds like synthesised ferrets bouncing on corrugated iron)

the band in my collection that gets the most odd looks from my friends (except one who actually knows/knew the guitarist) is Focus and the track that causes the most sideways glances is Hocus Pocus

Sloweye, both of those are pretty normal bands. nothing odd about either of them

They are normal if you've herd of them, see i don't think Focus is an odd one and i have Hocus Pocus on 7".

SHORTEST SONG IN THE HISTORY OF billboard was by a band called [wimmonfolk]
it was little boxes it was 45 sec long 10 sec shorter than little gto by the ripcords.

Alabama 3 (it's surprising how few people know of these)
Dinosaur Jr (over here in the UK especially, no-one seems to have heard of them)

Alabama 3 is probably my favourite band at the moment (we were lucky enough to play a charity gig in Chiswick a few years ago where Larry Love's Showband did an acoustic set and we got to hang out with them for a while before they went off to join the rest of A3 for a gig somewhere else in London. they're really friendly and down to earth)

I have every album of hers and also Lone Justice .
Seen her many times over the last 30 odd years .
Also amazed how she is`nt thought highly as she is a brilliant perfomer and song writer .
