| Living in Paradise | "One" thing you like about where you live! I hope I am in the right area, the Lounge sounds a good enough place. I was driving through "The Avenue of Honor" last night (more soon) thinking this is what I love about my town. I live in a biggish size town in Victoria (state of Australia) about 50 mins from our Capital City of Melbourne. As you drive into town, on either side of the road Elm trees were planted just after WW2 as a mark of respect to locals who has fought and died in the war. This Avenue stretches a few kms and comprises of maybe a couple of hundred huge Elm trees. Throughout the year they change, beginning with Summer when they are green and full and provide a magnificent umbrella from the sun. In Autumn the leaves start to change to golden brown and commence falling off and then to Winter where there are no more leaves, they are bare and naked but still look wonderful. The are rather scarey in winter, branches fall off and they sway quite alot, then to Spring and they start to regain their leaves. It would be just one of the things I love about my town but it got me thinking, What is just ONE thing you love about where you live. It could be just a shop or your neighbours but for everyone it will be different and personal. |

| Re: "One" thing you like about where you live! The statue on the North Inch commemorating the liberation of Amsterdam and erected on the 50th anniversary of VE Day. It depicts a Black Watch piper recieving a posy from a little Dutch girl, bronze and life-sized. It's not unique though, its twin is in Amsterdam, linking the birthplace of the Black Watch with one of their greatest triumphs. |

Very nice indeed! ![]() My favourite is the Meadowhall in Sheffield. Such a giant place, makes me feel so small. |

The mountains behind the lake; oh, I know the Jura's not real mountains, old and worn down, But I grew up somewhere so flat the driving test for hill starts was in a multi-storey carpark. | |
