Asmodean Well, I recently finished re-reading the earlier books in the series, and I wondered if this question had been asked here yet. In The Fires of Heaven, who does kill Asmodean? I know that his killer isn't mentioned, although Asmodean does look at whoever it is and say "You? No!" before he dies. I wondered if any of the learned Chronicles members who have read the Wheel of Time has any theories as to who they think it is.

Re: Asmodean Well, at the risk of being a newbie "overposter" I'll tell ya what I know. From the WoT FAQ, I've read that it's not certain and RJ won't tell, although HE seems to think it's obvious and we (the readers) should be able to tell. But the list of suspects is as follows: Rahvin Mazrim Taim (who may or may not be a darkfriend) Graendal The Dark One himself Moridin Lanfear Not quite everybody with Dark leanings, but a goodly number of them. There are some arguments for and against each of the suspects. Another possibility is that it's Slayer, hired by Lanfear. There are pro and con arguments to that possibility, too. My money's on Graendal, since there seem to be fewer arguments against her being the killer than with other suspects. I dunno if it's polite (or even prohibited) to provide links to other related sites here. I it's ok, I can post a couple of urls that have been helpful to me. If it's not ok...well, I can be contacted via email. Hu (I spose I otta go muck out some stables.)

Re: Asmodean You can post links here, although you have to have posted a set number of times before you can. I've heard a lot of those arguments, too, and I still have no idea about whodunnit. From what I've heard on another forum, there's a couple of suspects that aren't on your list, but I don't know how valid they are, or how feasible. Will we find out in the next book, I wonder? Or will it be one of RJ's unsolved mysteries? (to everyone else, aside from himself, I mean) ![]() Seems like there's so mamy theories out there! ![]()

Re: Asmodean I beleive Jordan RAFO'd the issue but pages and pages of other sites have been wasted disscusing this and still nobody can agree. The key issue as i see it, is that Asmo knew his killer and was afraid of it. Draw conclusions.

Re: Asmodean Hello I am brand new to the boards. As to the first question Jordan has said in a number of interviews that the answer is in the books as to who Asmodeans' killer is. Greandal. It is seen in Demandreds visit to shadar logoth in the beginning if Lord of Chaos that the Dark One has some knowledge but he is fallable. He is reliant on information brought to him by the forsaken, Ishamael and I believe the Eyeless. Anyway it is jordans blog. As to Demandred being Taim we see at the end of Winter Heart, when Rand is cleansing the taint, he is confronted by Damer Flinn who he fails to recognize as an Ashaman.

Re: Asmodean Firstly, welcome to the Chronicles, Crimsonking56! ![]() I have heard so many different versions of who various people think killed Asmodean (one forum I visit has a thread dedicated to it that's now reached over 100 pages) so it's good to see that the general consensus here backs up my opinion. ![]()

Re: Asmodean Was that DragonMount Talysia? I was on there once and they were totally crazy about it, with everyone being suggested from Asmodean himself to Loial???? Well perhaps not. I do think you could well be right though, Crimsonking, hello and welcome btw.

Re: Asmodean Yep, it was Dragonmount, and the subject is still going strong with no sign of slowing! I hadn't heard about Loial being one of the suspects, although I heard quite a few people suggesting Aviendha!

Re: Asmodean I posted on that DragonMount thread about a year and a half ago. I thought the killer was slayer, I don't really remember why thats who I had in mind but I'm guessing I had good reason. I think it was something to do with RJ saying the killer was in general who you first instinctively thought of or something like that.

Re: Asmodean For what it is worth, in the Shadow Rising Lanfear comes to Rand right before the trplloc attack in the Stone (chapt 9, Decisions). In the conversation they have, she tells Rand " Asmodean will teach you to wield the power without it killing you, teach what you can do with it. Let me help you. We can destroy the others. The Great Lord will not care. We can destroy all of them, even Asmodean, once he has taught you all you need to know." She says a little more but that is the important part. I think that is a little to close to what happened to be a coincedence.
