Re: Jon Shannow series I read it years ago; I think I read all three? tales combined in one large volume. I really enjoyed it, though I remember only indistinct factual details. I always hoped he'd write more... alas not to be.

Re: Jon Shannow series What did you think about Shannow? I love him, my fav of DG. Cause he is such a tragic hero. Becoming a killer cause his hate for brigands. The people who he saves fearing and hating him. Struggling with killing even evil men. When he became a priest for 20 years and only cause of amnesia becoming The Jerusalem Man the killer again. Ah such a complex hero.

Re: Jon Shannow series It would be a great apocalyptic western specially if Directed by Clint Eastwood. That guy knows his westerns. You know i finished Shannow series last night. Jon deserved a happier ending. If a hero ever deserved a happy ending its Jon Shannow. All his life he was saving people, destroying evil and he never was happy except his 20 years as a priest.

Re: Jon Shannow series Why not? Some heroes like Connavar and Druss they have known happyness, had great lives with friends, family etc. They can die happily. Shannow deserved some peace and not slow death alone in another world. It annoyed me really. Also i dont happy happy ending with him getting younger or married or something. Enough with him living in peace with having to kill and go to war against yet another world conquering evil.

Re: Jon Shannow series I think of all his charcters, Shannow, most resembled Gemmell. Or Gemmell put more of himself into Jon Shannow. The author had a tough time in parts of his life and maybe this is reflected in Shannow.

Re: Jon Shannow series Yeah i read how he came up with Shannow. He planned to write a book about Ulric, but over a night he couldnt sleep, he came up with the tragic hero of Shannow and his quest for Jerusalem. It fit in more with his life at that time. Lucky for us he did. Shannow is a special kind of a hero even by DG standard.

Re: Jon Shannow series Shannow is one of his most outstanding characters I read the creation of Jon Shannow as well and liked the idea. Wolf in Shadow is one of the best Gemmell books IMO. If anybody else wants to read it here is the link Books
