Meisha Merlin Publishing

I know that they announced a couple of months ago on their website that they planned to shut their doors in May but I wonder if anyone has heard what has happened to the company and its publishing work/rights since? Doesn't seem to be a peep about them since they put the announcement up on their website.

Re: Meisha Merlin Publishing

There is a piece in the June LOCUS, saying ''It is unclear whether the publisher is declaring bankruptcy or merely closing operations", but Steve Pagels is quoted as saying "Meisha Merlin...will be closing their doors in May 2007", so that sounds final...

Re: Meisha Merlin Publishing

There are other bits of information floating around too. Check out the blogs of Sharon Lee and Steve Miller. As former MMP authors, they've had a lot to say, including how they had to take payment in books for some of the money owed them.

The Virginia Edition Heinlein books they were doing will still be published. They apparently started a separate MMP entity to do those. Good thing too since people were laying down some very serious money to get those books. I know a few people were VERY nervous when the news initially broke.
