| American Girl Posse ---Tori Amos Has anyone else checked out Amos's latest effort, American Doll Posse, which has some radio play with her first two singles, "Big Wheel" and "Bounding Off Clouds"? I must admit that, even though I am a long time fan of her music (random sidenote: Boys for Pele is my favorite album by her), the very plain sounding The Beekeeper left this amateur music critic wondering if it was time for my purchasing dollar and her cds to part ways. The worries were unfounded thanks to American Doll Posse. The album has plenty of variation in sound to keep the album entertaining and of scale with her work that first made her famous. It is hard to not like an album nowdays that starts off with an attack on George W. Bush ("Yo George," track one). "Big Wheel" has a fun classicly Southern sounding beat while "Bounding Off Clouds" is vintage Amos composing through and through. Recommended. |
