Cosford Airshow 2007

Another great day out, made more enjoyable by having fellow writer, and Chronicles moderator, Ian Whates there with me. He did well, selling a good number of copies of Time Pieces. If you want to get a copy, then you would do well to order one soon as I'm told there are now less than 200 left. I imagine that once the print run has sold out, the prices will start to hike - if you can find anyone willing to part with a copy!

I enjoyed being back at an RAF base and trade was brisk through most of the day. The weather brought out the crowds in their tens of thousands, which always makes for strong sales figures. I must admit to either being out of practise at long days of selling, or getting old, (one or the other) as I felt absolutely cream crackered by the end of the day!

The below photos were taken at about 7am - before the floods of people began rampaging through the hangar. I have to smile at seeing us so keen and full of anticipation. If Ian had taken the photos later in the day, it would likely have made for a very different picture!

You, Mark, getting old? Never! Peter Pan could learn a thing or two from you!

Thanks for inviting me along. It was a very enjoyable day, spent in great company and full of the opportunity to meet new people. To cap it all, author Ian R. MacLeod (The Light Ages, House of Storms, Past Magic etc.) even stopped by the stall to say hello. What could be better?

Glad to hear you guys did well. I already have my copy of Timepieces so I'm one of the lucky few
Is that your lovely wife in the pic, Mark or some random woman walking past who you cajoled to make your booth more photogenic?

Well spotted, WS. Yes, that is Sarah, my wife. She loves helping out at the Airshow and does a great job of cajoling customers over to look at the books.

What I really need is a team of people at an event like this - out in the crowd handing out bookmarks and encouraging people to come and have a look. That way I could just sit down and get writer's cramp! My daughter is probably the most effective promoter I know. After all, who can resist taking a bookmark from cheeky seven year old girl who doesn't take no for an answer?!

Wow that was a fun day =]
I got to meet Mark yay!You actually came to our school once but no one informed me and I missed out, so I had to wait another year until I met you!
Still haven't finished the darkweaver legacy, was very busy at school after the airshow and then all the harry potter excitement.
But I'm ploughing through the first one now and its brilliant!
My dad works at Cosford and he said lots of people were very impressed that you were there and selling your own books, and your right, a photo taken at any other time would have been hectic the place was constantly packed.
Very good day!
Cheers Mark

Re: Cosford Airshow 2007

Thanks for dropping in to say hello, Feordel. I hope to be back there again next year with Imperial Traitor in hand and some proof copies of Dragon Oracle (or whatever it will finally be called) to flash around.
