Currently I'm finishing my Master's degree in English Lit (it was something to do), so a lot of my reading revolves around my coursework or thesis, which seems to be settling on Nabokov. It was looking at some theme in SF at one point. The remainder of my reading time is spent with unpublished manuscripts that I beta. Right now, I have Liam Jackson's second Offspring book on my desk as well as a partial alternative history novel in my inbox.

| Re: Greetings! I posted a reply earlier, but I believe I was bad. I included a link and, as I think back to the terms of use, I do believe I'm too new to the forum to do that. My apologies. Let me try again. Quote:

Beyond that, I'm in the process of finishing my Master's in English Lit, so the majority of my reading time is spent reading material for my classes or for my thesis. Currently, my thesis seems to be focusing on the use of fairy tales and myth by Nabokov. At one point, I was looking at doing something related to SF, too. A good portion of the remaining reading time is spent betaing unpublished manuscripts. Currently, I have the second book of Liam Jackson's Offspring series on my desk (this is where the nefarious link occurred) and a partial alternative history manuscript in my inbox. To everyone else who posted, thank you for continuing to make me feel welcomed.

Actually, I don't believe you gave me the data that you were a writer; besides, one or two of the writers here seem to think they are obliged to invent the art from scratch, with no reference to previous attempts (see what I mean about remaining civilised) Can I expect to be seeing you in "Aspiring writers" then?

| Re: Greetings! Douglas Adams was a minor god, taken from us much too soon. No writer should ever die while in mid-project, lest their devoted readers be left with eternal doubts about the connection between salmon and white rhinos. I don't think I gave you much information at all when I first arrived. Getting to know people is a process. Can't move too fast, unless you want to take all the fun out of it. But, yes, I'm a writer. Well-read. Some would argue too well-read, though I don't think such a thing is possible. I'll definitely be hanging out in the Aspiring Writers forum. |

| Re: Greetings! Watch where you're spilling those beans ... they've all gone in the shogoth pool. Meowrr and Namaste. Just know that you are doomed. Escape is impossible and you really should not believe anyone who tells you they are quite sane by any accepted standard. In return we offer books, movies, music, cats and possibly chopsticks along with conversations on just about anything and everything along with peanuts, cakes, chocolate (it's truffles & pralines today) and whisky (Chivas Regal). ![]() As for the basement, please feel free to visit. We're always hungering for visitors. A visit to the attic would be fine so long as you bring a basket of Gorgonzola with you. A visit to the piranha pool would require you to read them a chapter from Moby Dick. Come visit the Tea Room (The Quiet Room) and tell us about your favourite authors, movies, music ... It's always a good idea to bring something intriguing for the cat when visiting. |
