Why wouldn't I give you your table if I have it? We're here to make money for mango's sake! Not to make people miserable by withholding their access to the restaurant!

Oh, dwndrgn...I really can sympathize. Only it was real, live tutors people used to want me to pull out of my...erm, hat, instead of tables for dinner.

"What do you mean, you don't have a tutor right now? I've got a test in fifteen minutes and I need a Vulcan mind meld in order to be able to pass the thing. Don't you know that you are violating my civil, human, and constitutional rights by not having a tutor just sitting around waiting for me to show up."

Well, they usually really only said some variation of the first sentence, and occasionally implied the third. Often, though they really seemed to think the mind meld might do the trick. In fact, a couple of times I told students that we didn't do them in the tutorial center. *Picture confused non-science fiction fans here*

They just couldn't understand that we had only a certain number of tutors on staff, that not all of them were on duty all the time, and that if they didn't want to risk not being able to get one on a walk-in basis (we did take walk-ins, but only on a first-come, first-served basis) they should have made an appointment.

I wanted to put up a sign that read "Your lack of planning and foresight is not our emergency", but the bosses wouldn't go for it. Party-poopers.

I may take a moment of self-flattery to claim to be a bit handy in the kitchen. Which may or may not be a lie
