That's one area that's gotten better overall. Many more female writers in the thrillers area in America.

That's still a pretty small list compared with all sci-fi authors out there. Especially the well known ones. Maybe it's because I have an American perspective. In America, it seems, at least to me, many of the sci-fi writers, not fantasy mind you, only sci-fi, are still mostly male. Just my personal perspective I guess. (sometimes I'm just having a day where I'm irritated with men, and looking for an excuse to rant over them about something, even if it's only from my point of view and not actual reality)

I also come from the comicbook world, which is still very much ruled by male writers and artists. It's also partly why I left the comicbook message board I used to be on. I was tired of being one of the few females on there.

Not really. It's only been in the past hundred years or so, that women are finally catching up in this area, and it's still not in all writing genres.

New rant: Why haven't time machines been invented yet darn it? Weren't we all supposed to be driving hover cars by now? Hurry up science! You're taking too darn long! I should be able to "zap" myself to work instantly by now via Star Trek, instead of having to drive on actual roads. pffft.
