The palantir.

'About the palantiri of the Kings of Old' said Gandalf.
'And what are they?'
'The name meant that which looks far away. The Orthanc-stone was one'

Re: The Tolkien Quoting Trivia

I have read some of the posts above with joy. Allow me to jump in:

"Po-ta-toes." followed by your quote, of course.

I don't have my copy of The Two Towers handy, but it is from the chapter "Of Herbs and Stewed Rabbit".

Now, to think up something to ask...

Ah! A trollish insult, same as a kind of bird...

Re: The Tolkien Quoting Trivia

Answer: Valacirca

"And high in the north as a challenge to Melkor she set the crown of seven mighty stars to swing, Valacirca, the Sickle of the Valar and sign of doom."

Re: The Tolkien Quoting Trivia

Good job you're correct!

And the answer to yours?

A Tipsy Cat...

Quote:
The ostler has a tipsy cat
that plays a five-stringed fiddle;
And up and down he runs his bow,
Now squeaking high, now purring low,
now sawing in the middle.
